Thursday, May 8, 2014. Examining Gender, Race and Body Image in a Virtual World. While there weren't many drastic changes after changing my avatar, I did notice that more people initiated conversations with me when my avatar was a woman. More people approached me as a woman than when I was a man and I felt as though people were a bit more outgoing.
