This image was taken just below the summit of Corn Du on the 12/11/12 at 4:30am about half an hour before sunrise. Pen Y Fan can be seen far right of the image, Corn Du cannot be seen. The image was exposed for the light part of the sky on spot metering. The camera settings were f8 for a relatively deep depth of field. The shutter speed was 30 seconds and I always use ISO 200. The set comprises of two 6ft whoopie slings, two karabiners and two 2 metre tree huggers. Total weight for this set is 240grams. We decided to use the karabiners in this way for three reasons:. 3 Items like the rucksack can now be easily clipped to the karabiner and hung effectively from the hammock suspension.

The Snugpak underquilt when fully compressed packs down to a ball around 20cm in diameter. Packing it into the stuffsack is easy as the stuff sack is a good size, the compression straps go all the way around to save pulling on the sack and ripping it. the whole underquilt including suspension shockcord and stuffsack (I have cut some of the shockcord off) weighs 1240g.

These have added 135g to the weights, obviously lighter materials can be used or make them on location, but I found that to be more trouble than the worth of it. Immediately after receiving this hammock I cut off the suspension cord and replaced it with whoopie slings. There is nothing wrong with the supplied cord it's just that I find it such a faff to untie and re-tie knots to adjust the hang, and whoopie slings make it so easy! It has not been fully tested yet. The video was thrown together to show Strider because he was the one who told me about the tent and is thinking of purchasing one himself. First impressions are very good, Vango have redesigned the stuff sack with a very large opening so the tent can easily be put back in , even when wet.
