Rajeev's World: July 2015
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Keep the flame alive! Friday, July 31, 2015. Officially, A Cave Man, Today! After an interesting day around the various towns and villages of Cappadocia region. We drove down to the tiny town of Ürgüp and checked into our hotel for the night. Located in a narrow bylane of Ürgüp, it felt as though we were stepping back in time, into the Byzantine era. The television in the cave-room reminded us that we were in 2015 and not a thousand years back. It is quite an experience to stay here. A time to relax.

Rajeev's World: The Heart of Beijing! Part I
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2013/05/the-heart-of-beijing-part-i.html
Keep the flame alive! Sunday, May 12, 2013. The Heart of Beijing! This morning, we headed out to what is practically the heart of Beijing and of China, of course - Qianmen Street, Tiananmen Square and the Summer Palace. Qianmen Street became even more prosperous in the early years of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) with the area hosting activities such as lantern fairs, housing theaters and having teahouses and roast duck eateries. But tragedy struck when during the Boxer Rebellion. Of 1900, the gate sustai...

Rajeev's World: Bon Jour, Paris!
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2015/07/bon-jour-paris.html
Keep the flame alive! Saturday, July 11, 2015. Bon Jour, Paris! Touchdown in Paris was smooth, 10 minutes before schedule, in what apparently is a beautiful and sunny Parisian evening. We were greeted by an Air Seychelles Airbus A330 taxiing towards the active runway and a Korean Air Airbus A380, which had just come in from Incheon and was headed to its parking bay. The sad part was I could barely capture the takeoff of the Air Seychelles flight, all I caught was the tail. And within less than a minute o...

Rajeev's World: IndiGo At Its Lousiest Best
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2013/09/indigo-at-its-lousiest-best.html
Keep the flame alive! Sunday, September 15, 2013. IndiGo At Its Lousiest Best. After enjoying the delights that have made Hyderabad a gastronomical paradise. We had to settle for a morning flight, hoping to get back to Mumbai to salvage whatever was left of the Independence Day, and we gladly chose IndiGo's flight 6E-247 departing Hyderabad at about 7.30 AM, as so far I had pleasant experiences on IndiGo that I have documented on this blog. But that was not to be, as I was soon to realise. The stupid sou...

Rajeev's World: A Journey Into Jungfrau-Aletsch...
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2015/07/a-journey-into-jungfrau-aletsch.html
Keep the flame alive! Monday, July 13, 2015. A Journey Into Jungfrau-Aletsch. We woke up to a cloudy day, our first morning in Grindelwald. We were up pretty early as obviously our body clocks were still on Indian Standard Time, 3.5 hours ahead of local time. And we had to be in time to catch our train to Jungfraujoch! Our excursion today took us to Jungfraujoch. We exchanged our booking vouchers at Grindelwald station for tickets to Jungfraujoch - Top Of Europe. We overheard her tell the Koreans that th...

Rajeev's World: Fortress Risotto Conquered!
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2013/08/fortress-risotto-conquered.html
Keep the flame alive! Sunday, August 25, 2013. After a long time, our creative juices we in free flow, and yes the digestive juices too! After having a ham and pumpkin risotto last Saturday, we were having an uncontrollable urge to try our hand at a risotto at home - the risotto so far was an impenetrable fortress for us. But it was the D-day today! Separately, some rice soaked for 2 hours and a small broccoli was blanched. A pack of button mushrooms was cleaned and chopped. Subscribe to: Post Comments (...

Rajeev's World: Plane Spotting At SIN
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2014/08/plane-spotting-at-sin.html
Keep the flame alive! Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Plane Spotting At SIN. Plane spotting at Sngapore, Changi Airport's Terminal 2 was a bit of a disappointment. Besides, Singapore Airlines and its affiliates - Silk Air, Tiger Airways and Scoot, there were hardly any beauties to spot. I frankly expected much more from Changi. Plane spotting from the Sunflower Garden - I could not resist clicking this beautiful flower with a bee on it. Finally something different - a Qatar Airways. And Etihad in the distance.

Rajeev's World: Headwinds or Tailwinds? - Some More Random Thoughts....
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2011/10/headwinds-or-tailwinds-some-more-random.html
Keep the flame alive! Tuesday, October 18, 2011. Some More Random Thoughts. A few weeks back, I had written a blog titled " Headwinds or Tailwinds? On the latest in aviation, including the launch of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. I received an interesting comment on the blog post from a gentleman, Mr. Rodrick Rajive. Yes, we have shrunk distances! Goes a long way from the Boeing 720s and 707s that I used to fly with my parents from Addis. The Second question is, in spite of the hype, will the Dreamliner.

Rajeev's World: Co Vai, Helvetia?
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2015/07/co-vai-helvetia.html
Keep the flame alive! Sunday, July 12, 2015. Co Vai, Helvetia? With our body clock still on Indian Standard Time, we were up early at 0530 hours local time. Feeling fully rested, we got ready and packed up before heading for breakfast. Our train for Basel was to depart Gare de Lyon at 1023 hours. So met Marilyn at the lobby and deposited our bags. Check out was seamless and very soon we were back in Gare de Lyon with a " Bienvenue en gare :). What's " I ♥ NY. Kids are always a treat to watch! Paris has m...

Rajeev's World: Exploring Gare de Lyon!
http://www.rajeevmahajan.com/2015/07/exploring-gare-de-lyon.html
Keep the flame alive! Saturday, July 11, 2015. Exploring Gare de Lyon! The drive into Gare de Lyon was quite smooth, barely taking about 40 minutes to cover 60 kilometres, which is pretty decent indeed. In fact we were at Gare de Lyon within 120 minutes of touchdown at CDG! Remember the Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code? But Jenelle promised to check with the manager and she referred us to Marilyn, the front desk manager who would be on duty in the morning, and we were promised she would certainly help us! The G...
