My Ordinary Fairy Tale

My Ordinary Fairy Tale. Monday, November 3, 2014. My Fairy Tale Weekend. It was a productive weekend on my little homestead. We survived a cold, windy Halloween night with a splash of snow mix. Saturday I turned on the oven at 11:00 am and didn't turn it off until 6:30 in the evening. Sunday was kissed with our first frost and yet I was able to fill my day outside in the warmth of the day. Crisp autumn morning, so chilly the girls aren't out yet. First frost of the year. Labels: blanch and freezing.

My Ordinary Fairy Tale: Harvesting Garlic

http://myordinaryfairytale.blogspot.com/2014/09/harvesting-garlic.html

My Ordinary Fairy Tale. Monday, September 29, 2014. Garlic has been one of the easiest produce I decided to grow in my garden. During the first of October, I dedicate one raised bed to growing garlic. I place the cloves into the soil about three. Inches deep. Then I covered the raised bed with saw dust and straw. Then you forget it! Then move everything to the kitchen. Using your hands to remove the outer skin. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

My Ordinary Fairy Tale. Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Love Your Greens Challenge. So I decided to take on a challenge, to push my healthy boundaries to a new unknown level. My Ordinary Fairy Tale. Thursday, May 30, 2013. Everyone can preserve food.Berries! So as summer creeps into the back yard with warm weather, bright evenings and quick summer storms, I can think of only one thing.strawberries. It is the season because it leads to a stream of fantastic fruits after fruits after fruits. Get your berries, preferably local, and wash the berries. Try to remove as much air as possible, label and place back into the freezer. Easy right, if you followed the above steps, cong...

My Ordinary Fairy Tale: Preserving: Blanching and Freezing Corn

http://myordinaryfairytale.blogspot.com/2013/10/preserving-blanching-and-freezing-corn.html

My Ordinary Fairy Tale. Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Preserving: Blanching and Freezing Corn. Above is the local farmers' market corn on the cob with the husk removed and rinsed, lovely right. Boil a large pot of water. To speed up this process, put a lid on the pot. Then once boiling put the veggies in, for corn let it cook for 7-8 minutes. There are great web sites that will provide blanching time for each vegetable. Once the cob is cool enough to handle, use a knife to cut the corn off the cob. Awesome ...

My Ordinary Fairy Tale. Tuesday, March 25, 2014. My Productive Homesteading Weekend. Urban homesteading - The act of transforming a suburban home into a property that produce some or all of its residents own food and other subsistence needs. Participation in home-based activities such as gardening, raising poultry or small livestock, minimizing consumer purchases and generally seeking ways to increase self-sufficiency in a city or suburban environment. The Book of Doing – just in time for the dog days of summer. Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 links. Send me your address and I’ll get this in the mail to you pronto! We are back at home after a (mostly) delightful road trip and visits with kith and kin up and down the east coast. After putting over 50o0 miles on our van we returned home tired but happy to be back in our own beds with our own stuff. Woo-hoo! Then I remembered the books I was sent by my publisher to give away to a lucky winner! As a kid, when w...

Ordinary Days | Life as a new mother is anything but ordinary! This is a space to unload.

Life as a new mother is anything but ordinary! This is a space to unload. A cold and rainy day. February 4, 2010. What a day to stay inside. It’s been cold and raining all day long. It’s days like these that make me wish I’d hate Kate at a different time of year. It’s been hard to be mostly inside for these last 3 months. I get her out a good bit–we go to the grocery store, drug store, church, Babies R Us (of course! She’s down for her first real nap of the day–and it’s 5pm! January 25, 2010. She has a r...

Jag heter Hanna och bor i en liten håla så kallad Nybro. På fritiden är jag med kompisar och rider. Bloggar om det mesta, men inte hästarna för dom har en egen blogg då alla inte vill läsa om sånt! Frågor, svar and annat. Skönhet, mat and träning.

Nothing but means everything. I’ve stolen all the stars to make a wish we can fly. Away, away up high to that old place in time. Where our pictures never fade and our hearts don’t lie. Won’t you stay a while and watch our world go by. I’ll keep holding on to you and your Saturday smile. Has our Autumn died. Help me find you again. I think it’s love. I think it’s love. That gets us through. So when we die. I’ll think of love. And thoughts of you. To lay me down. I think it’s love. That keeps us new. Nagob...
