Pinched for time last evening and in a hurry to get home before rushing to my next responsibility, I was stuck in traffic. The second hand in my brain shrieked,. To no avail. A hostage, I glanced up through rain-spattered glass…. Hours earlier, I had posted Emerson as my quote of the day:. The natural world reaches out to each of us, every day. My Path with Stars Bestrewn. Look up, look around. Petals to cushion the hard places. August 13, 2015. Those of you who have been following this blog for any length of time know that nature is my primary focus. The flora and fauna that inhabit my gardens and populate nearby fields, woods, and waterways are not only the focal point of my lens, they are also my teachers. I absorb many spiritual lessons while observing the quiet examples nature unfurls before me. August 13, 2015 at 11:38 am. I especially ap...

My Path with Stars Bestrewn. Newer posts →. Dust from the road. July 14, 2016. It’s mid-July already, and here in Illinois, wildflowers are out in abundance. Fence rows are embroidered with delicate medallions of Queen Anne’s Lace; chicory’s starry blooms form constellations in windswept grass; clusters of pale pink milkweed send up their bewitching perfume. It’s the height of summer’s sweet-petaled bounty. Goldfinch, meadowlark…. This driver lacks country etiquette. He lifted no hand in greeting as he s...

My Path with Stars Bestrewn. Neither an end nor a beginning. Only from the heart →. The music of stillness dancing. January 1, 2015. After the mad rush of the holidays, with their fun but frenetic flurry of over-activity, I am always in need of stillness. This is particularly true for me this year, so I pull on my boots, bundle up, and slip away for a while, far from the sounds of civilization. I attune my ears to the almost inaudible murmur of flowing water, exhaling thin plumes of steam as I ramble alo...

Beauty Where We Are: Rebirth

http://beautywhereweare.blogspot.com/2015/07/rebirth.html

Saturday, July 18, 2015. I went outside to water the plants yesterday and almost passed out with excitement (or was it the humidity? A butterfly had just emerged from its chrysalis! And not just any butterfly, but one I'd never seen before: a Red-Spotted Purple! Its iridescent blues were breathtaking, and I don't do it justice in my photos. I will be keeping an eye out for these beauties in the future! Just delighted that we were able to make a home for a new one to be created. :-). Gorgeous photos, Amy!

Quieting the heart in a noisy world. Asymp; 8 Comments. Dad had rough, worn hands that worked hard and were used to holding a Skillsaw, hammer, folding ruler, all the tools of his trade. He drove nails like no one else I’ve seen one tap to set it, and two whacks to sink it. And fast! A handful of nails would disappear rapidly tap, whack, whack! Tap, whack, whack! It was astonishing how quickly he worked. Why did you marry Mom? What was it about her that you loved so very much? What were your dreams, Dad?

Quieting the heart in a noisy world. All Over but the Shoutin’. In What I'm Reading. Asymp; 4 Comments. With thanks to my husband’s ex-wife Ann, I’ve just finished reading. All Over but the Preview. Quieting the heart in a noisy world. If you love someone, tell them. Asymp; 11 Comments. Sunday we experienced a very powerful event at our rather “decent and orderly” church (as the Presbyterians say.) (We’re not called the “frozen chosen” for nothing.). Our pastor, Alex, preached his usual excellent sermon, this one about Jesus’s last supper. Here is the sermon outline if you’d like to read it: Dinner with Friends. I saw more than a few damp eyes as people went past. There is always a long line of peop...

My Path With Him

My Path With Him. Tuesday, January 20, 2015. I've read the bible story in Matthew chapter 14 many times, but recently I experienced my own "loaves and fishes" story. Here is the biblical story:. And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. He said, Bring them hither to me. To be hones...
