Machines looking for a home. Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Just another Singer Model 66 Treadle Restoration. Here is another project that I just finished. Nothing fancy, just another classic Singer Treadle machine. I just love these machines. I was able to do this in 2 weeks. I am still trying to find the "before Pictures". These are the "After Pictures". November 13, 2012 at 7:29 PM. Its absolutely beautiful. Good job! August 28, 2013 at 2:11 AM. That long and no problems with it. :). I was told about a s...

Machines looking for a home. Monday, October 8, 2012. Singer 15-91 time again! All of a sudden, the 15-91's are back. Models seem to go in a cycle. I haven't seen a 15-91 in almost a year. Below is a garage sale find and it is cleaning up very nice. What year is this? Tuesday, October 2, 2012. 1916, Singer Model 66 "Red Eye", Treadle Refurb. I recently had the chance to work on an old treadle machine. This machine was in pretty good shape. Labels: model 66 Red Eye. Red Eye Sewing Machine. I was told abou...

Machines looking for a home. Monday, March 19, 2012. 1951 New Home Rotary restoration. This weeks restoration project included another New Home Rotary, model NLB. I was informed by the owner that this machine was bought "New", by his mother in 1951. Standard clean up of old, yellowed oil and dry caked grease brings these old machines back to near mint working order. In this case too, some re-wiring was needed. Usually the wire inside the machine is fine. The power wire outside is what needs to be replaced.

Sewing By Day: March 2012

Saturday, March 31, 2012. New Home Treadle Take-up, In Action. As requested by a reader, here are some stills showing the action of the "hook of take-up" on the New Home treadle. When the needle bar and needle are at the highest point, the hook of take-up is back. As the needle and needle bar descend, the hook of take-up swings forward . . . And by the time the needle has reached it's lowest point, it has swung back again, leaving quite a bit of slack on the spool thread. Labels: hook of take-up. Then I ...
Sewing By Day: Sizzling Elna Supermatic
http://sewingbyday.blogspot.com/2012/03/sizzling-elna-supermatic.html
Saturday, March 31, 2012. Uh-oh Here I go again- elbow deep in my Elna Supermatic. I can't begin to tell you how many countless hours I've spent disassembling, reassembling, and adjusting this machine. It's not that there was so much wrong with it to begin with, but it did need some routine maintenance. The bobbin/race area needed cleaning up, and the old motor pulley had a flat spot, which made the machine sound like a weed whacker when running. And on the inside of the base of the machine. Now that I'v...
Threads of Mine: August 2014
http://threadsofmine.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 17, 2014. Carla made this oh-so-cute baby quilt for a business friend who is expecting. I think it's just adorable and looks like an easy one. You could use just about any theme to make the applique in the wide strip. The logs are 2" x 6" and the quilt measures 42 x 50. I chose a new to me pantograph, Prickly Pear, and used Omni white thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting. Sunday, August 3, 2014. It's quilted with Bountiful Feathers, Omni Lite Tan thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting. I'm a Graphic Des...

Friday, October 25, 2013. Darle's Doll Quilts and Table Topper. Darle used to own a shop called Darle's Dolls and Bears. I would imagine she has lots of doll quilts. She made these 2 little cute doll quilts. I just love them! The first one is just triangles and I quilted continuous curves and a feather border to match. This one is just strips and I quilted molar feathers going in opposite directions. Lucky for me the number of strips was divisible by 2. A border design to match this one also. Labels: Ami...

Saturday, August 9, 2008. Labels: Circle Lord Spirals. It looks pretty good to me Ruthie, I have the spiral too but I tend to pull out the giant Swirls template when I want an allover spiral unless of course I'm doing them freehand. Sewing By Day: TR-3 Resin Glaze
http://sewingbyday.blogspot.com/2012/04/tr-3-resin-glaze.html
Thursday, April 12, 2012. I have a Singer 15-91 that I am eager to get all cleaned up, but I decided to test it on my Singer 99-13 first. The decals on the 99-13 were not in the greatest shape to start with- most were already silvered, or missing completely. Before the decals were dark, dusty, dingy, and covered in a slightly sticky residue. In some places the residue was a little more stubborn and took a lot more passes to remove. When the TR-3 dried on it, it became the brownish discoloration you s...

http://threadsofmine.blogspot.com/2015/04/marys-twister.html
Monday, April 20, 2015. Mary made this adorable little Twister quilt for an upcoming baby shower. I'm sure the new mom will be thrilled with it. She used a charm pack and the colors are so soft, just lovely. I quilted it with Popcorn pantograph because it was already on the table. I think it's a perfect match! http://threadsofmine.blogspot.com/2015/07/barbs-giraffe-quilt.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Barb is a member of my Blue Star Mothers group and she isn't really a quilter, but she made this adorable quilt for a grandchild. She followed the pattern, cutting and sewing all these background squares together. I might have sewn strips instead of squares, but the final effect of her quilt is adorable! I quilted it with Popcorn Panto, Maize Omni thread and Hobbs 80/20 batting. Shes not a quilter? July 22, 2015 at 7:27 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). JudyL's Star BOM - 9.

Nick Carr raised an interesting issue on his blog. 8230;we are seeing the e-book begin to assume its true aesthetic, which would seem to be far closer to the aesthetic of the web than to that of the printed page: text embedded in a welter of functions and features, a symphony of intrusive beeps. Relatedly, there are real signs that HTML...
