We may see it as just a night out and enjoying ourselves. Aristotle and the ancient greeks viewed happiness in more of a long term manner. Thursday, October 22, 2009. Before the unit on free will, I had thought that it was self-evident that everyone was free in the indeterministic sense. It seemed obvious that I had complete control over all of my choices. Now I see that this may not necessarily be completely true. Sunday, October 18, 2009. The compatibilist view makes sense because I think that choices are somewhat conditioned. Our choices are influenced by our personalities, our values, our families, our cultures, and more. We cannot ignore these things when making a decision because these things are an integral part of a person and choice-making capabilities. Thus, we will continue to follow the same path in life.
