Poetic Ramblings: My First Blog Post

http://mypoeticramblings.blogspot.com/2016/01/my-first-blog-post-ever.html

Friday, January 1, 2016. My First Blog Post. I am starting this blog after being challenged by several of my friends and family to exercise the passion for writing that God has given me. To this point. My first poem is a very simple one I wrote several years ago, but I think it's very applicable for today:. Life is a vapor. That comes and then goes;. Here for a moment,. And then it is gone. What all will you do. Before it is done? Because," we say, "I only have one life to live, so I'm going to do what I...

Poetic Ramblings: February 2016

http://mypoeticramblings.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Faith Begins Where the Known Ends. Much to my dismay, this idea never took off. There have been so many times where I've wanted to know the future. I've wanted to know if a loved one would recover from an illness. How a relationship was going to work out. How I was going to make ends meet. What the result of a decision would be. I'd know the future, and therefore I'd know that which is hoped for and that which remains unseen; this would render faith completely useless. Physica...

Poetic Ramblings: Every Dent Has a Story

http://mypoeticramblings.blogspot.com/2016/02/every-dent-has-story.html

Thursday, February 11, 2016. Every Dent Has a Story. I'm often asked why I don't get them pulled out and get a new paint job. The honest answer is it isn't very high on my priorities; she's a work truck, and a few dents and scratches don't hurt anything. Yeah, I probably will one day get her a total makeover, but for now, I'm perfectly content keeping the dents. There's a song by "Point of Grace" that I recently discovered:. I used to wish that I could rewrite history. Then I could just pretend. And heal...

Poetic Ramblings: He Never Moved

http://mypoeticramblings.blogspot.com/2016/01/while-i-was-writing-my-post-last-night.html

Wednesday, January 20, 2016. While I was writing my post last night, I remembered this poem that I had written six years ago. It's sad that I still have to be reminded of truths that I have known for years; I guess that's part of being human, huh? Anyway, here's the poem, with a couple of new stanzas at the end:. This path called life. The road so hard. And filled with strife. But I feared not,. For when life sent. Its raging storms,. To God I went. I walked with God,. Stayed by His side;. He led me on,.

It is hard to know exactly what time, but the time was late enough that the people would not have been able to get home without risking having to walk in the night. Devotional Commentary: June 2015

http://www.lognewant.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. We're not exactly sure what language Jesus spoke regularly. However there is great likelihood that this Aramaic, or Syriac, that he uses to speak to the little girl here was his chosen tongue. In any case, many in that region would have spoken Greek. So Jesus would have spoken Aramaic and Greek. 1 John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise you, Amen. Devotional Commentary: Mark 6:30

http://www.lognewant.com/2015/08/mark-630.html

Saturday, August 1, 2015. It is very important for Christian ministers to consider the fact that teaching should always accompany our ministry activity. Many times we have ministers who are very busy in ministry, but they never actually pointedly teach anything. James 2:3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:. And, we know that you will do well with us. Thank you!

Devotional Commentary: Mark 6:31

http://www.lognewant.com/2015/08/mark-631.html

Sunday, August 2, 2015. Scoffers might say that Jesus obviously did not know that the crowd would follow him, and that his followers would have no good chance to rest. Ah, but what did it teach his followers, to say that they needed to rest? Do we fail to remember that God rested on the seventh day after his work of creation? Jesus knew they wouldn't get to rest that day, but he was teaching. James 2:4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Receive Posts by Email.

Saturday, August 8, 2015. James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. Heavenly Father, it is amazing to us that you have chosen to use us as your servants. Rather than having a host of angels proclaim the gospel to the world, you have sent us to be your hands and feet. We are humbled and amazed by your plan. You know the best way to do things. How can we fail to carry out your mission for us? Pray for a man in poor health. Receive Posts by Email.

Devotional Commentary: Mark 6:38

http://www.lognewant.com/2015/08/mark-638.html

Sunday, August 9, 2015. This miracle is often misunderstood because Jesus used existing food and multiplied it. Could he have made bread out of thin air? Certainly. But, he didn't do it that way. There was a lesson in the method. Indeed, with Jesus there is always a lesson somewhere. He doesn't do miracles just to do miracles. He knew what he was going to do. He knew that he was going to make more than enough bread for all. But, he asks about what they have anyway. He wants to multiply it.

I'm honored to post this week's poem by a guest author and true friend, my brother Jonathan Boley. Twas the night before Christmas. And I couldn't sleep,. I kept counting the presents. That I'd get to keep. There were gifts of all sizes; . What could they all be? I couldn't stop thinking. Bout these gifts meant for me. But then my mind wandered. To a far distant land.
