Wednesday, 21 September 2016. I've lost a bit of momentum on these blocks over the summer. I haven't had much time to sew or to blog. Quilting Times: Not an 'official' block

http://myquiltingstuff.blogspot.com/2016/03/not-official-block.html

Monday, 28 March 2016. Not an 'official' block. This block is called Rose Park and is designed by Amy Smart. It hasn't been designed for the Splendid Sampler QAL but I found it on the Babylock site where Pat Sloan has posted a bonus block. As I was at a loose end this morning I thought I would make it to go in with my other blocks. It was really easy and went together quite quickly. Labels: 6 inch block. French General by Moda. Quilting Times: #16 Pieces of Friendship

http://myquiltingstuff.blogspot.com/2016/04/16-pieces-of-friendship.html

Sunday, 10 April 2016. 16 Pieces of Friendship. This is the sixteenth block for the Splendid Sampler Quilt A-Long and is called Pieces of Friendship designed by Lindsay Mayland. A fairly simple block to put together, but I had to be mindful of the bias edges to the triangles. There's a little bit of a wavy edge that I've tried to tame with starch. Labels: 6 inch block. French General by Moda. 11 April 2016 at 06:57. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 16 Pieces of Friendship. View my complete profile.

Quilting Times: February 2016

Sunday, 28 February 2016. Here is #5 of the Splendid Sampler QAL. It's called Simple Simon and was designed by Celine Perkins. This was a lovely block to piece. I managed to cut accurately, sew perfect scant 1/4" seams and it needed no trimming apart from a couple of wispy bits. Labels: 6 inch block. French General by Moda. Monday, 22 February 2016. 3 Lots of Love. Labels: 6 inch block. French General by Moda. Sunday, 21 February 2016. Splendid Sampler #2 - Wings. Labels: 6 inch block. The first block ca...

Quilting Times: Two more Splendid Sampler blocks

http://myquiltingstuff.blogspot.com/2016/07/two-more-splendid-sampler-blocks.html

Tuesday, 12 July 2016. Two more Splendid Sampler blocks. 40 Flights of Fancy. I've now decided on the setting for these blocks and have bought the fabric and washed and pressed it ready to cut out. I shall be sewing the sashings on each individual block over the summer so that when I have made enough blocks I can decide on placement and then sew them altogether. Labels: 6 inch block. French General by Moda. 13 July 2016 at 07:09. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Two more Splendid Sampler blocks. A dif...

Pin Fiddle Quilts: March 2015

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, 22 March 2015. Modern Irish Bee March Block. I finally got my Bee blocks completed today. Http:/ mansewing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/burstblock.pdf. Or go to the Modern Irish Bee blog for a link to the You Tube tutorial. An American man sewing as only an American man could sew. This block takes about 10 minutes to do, so very fast, but you need to concentrate and be quite methodical. Not much else in the way of sewing around here at the mo. Look at my beautiful whippet. So I used bleach!

Pin Fiddle Quilts: March 2014

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, 15 March 2014. My little ray of sunshine (sometimes) Beth joined all us serious stitchers on Thursday night at the Merville group. So 3 generations there, which was great. And she said she really enjoyed it because all the girls were lovely and there was a warm relaxed atmosphere. Her words. She needs to learn a skill for part of her Gold Duke of Edinburgh and if I teach her sewing she will take me to the Palace. I think. She's got this far. Me on the other hand. Life is good in between. I desi...

Pin Fiddle Quilts: August 2013

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 15 August 2013. Far too long a blog. The Northern Ireland Patchwork Guild are having an exhibition in Belfast City Hall next month. The title is Cultural Heritage. I am leaving it a bit late, but after a bit of thought and a lot of procrastination, I have decided to enter a piece. I may not make it in time for the deadline, but I will give it a go. During our summer holiday we spent a day in the Somme area of France. We visited Thiepval War Memorial. We took a few grave rubbings. I want to use ...

Pin Fiddle Quilts: Bleaching the birdies.

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2015/03/bleaching-birdies.html

Wednesday, 11 March 2015. At the weekend I decided to have a long stare at my bird quilt that has been sitting about feeling unloved in every way possible. I considered cutting it up into smaller pieces. But when thinking of where to cut I kept finding bits of it that I liked that would be lost in the process. It was actually the middle strip that was annoying my aesthetic brain. So I used bleach! Watered down a bit. It lightened up the whole feeling of the quilt. And now I like it. Here are a few details.

Pin Fiddle Quilts: November 2013

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Monday, 18 November 2013. Small quilt for a small person. Flipping Heck, I havent been on here for a month. I am not a very good blogger. But then I haven't had anything very interesting to blog about. All work and no play. Last week I decided to make a small quilt for a very special small person I know. I bought this fabric at the Festival of Quilts and it has been looking at me for months wondering what it will be turned into. The fabric is Scamper by Birch fabrics. Sorry my lighting isn't the best .

Pin Fiddle Quilts: January 2014

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Friday, 24 January 2014. I have been playing again. Printing and inking and painting and messing! In my sketchbook first. And then on white cotton. I generally just had a lot of fun with this one piece of polystyrene cut into a bird shape. The polystyrene is from a pizza packaging. These pizza bases are great for printing and one side sometimes has a texture on it which adds to the print. It is also good to draw into the polystyrene with say a knitting needle or pencil and then print the image. I really ...

Saturday, 19 October 2013. Hands Across the Border. During the week my mum and I visited the Hands Across The Border exhibition at The Island Arts Centre in Lisburn. Here are some of the exhibits. Valerie McKeown, Lets Celebrate. Irene MacWilliam, Wonder of Nature. Cathy Little, Wild Daisies. Anne French, Flower for the Living. Sheila Cleary, Birds Fly. On the way out of the exhibition these fabulous paintings were hanging in the foyer. Monday, 7 October 2013. Printing with Paula Rafferty. Some of Paula'...

Pin Fiddle Quilts: December 2013

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, 5 December 2013. Ok, so I haven't made a cushion fit for a gallery, but I have made one with some Art Gallery Fabrics. (Carnaby Street by Art Gallery Fabrics). I have just finished it this morning, complete with binding, which I have never done before. I did curve the corners but next time I would curve them even more. And a zip centre back. I googled how to insert piping on a cushion and also how to insert zips. But alas it's not a happy ending. I need to introduce this. Monday, 2 December 2013.

Pin Fiddle Quilts: February 2015

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 11 February 2015. I have made my two blocks for the Modern Irish Bee and will pop them in the post tomorrow. I think the image is slightly blurred. Each of the squares finishes just one inch, so I'm glad it's only two blocks. I enjoyed piecing as I haven't done any patchwork in a while. It got me in the mood again. Now looking forward to next month whatever it may be. And I have an idea already for my month, which is April! The theme is Reflections. So my head is in a spin thinking about ideas.

Pin Fiddle Quilts: September 2014

http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, 20 September 2014. I was on Mission Cushion this week. Meaning I made two cushions for two lovely little girls on the ward. This involved zip insertion. Something I have avoided in the past. But alas, no more will the zip frighten me! My daughter Beth photographed Sandra's cushion so she could show her granny. Bless. Hence the well staged . on the radiator complete with towel and tee shirt. shot. But luckily she did, because I forgot to photograph it before I gave it to little Sandra. I cut cir...

Sew Quilty

Tuesday, July 30, 2013. After a short healing period, I started chemotherapy and completed 6 cycles. So now I'm at the Cleveland Clinic preparing for a stem cell transplant. I've gone through the pre-transplant processes, and tomorrow they will begin 'harvesting' my stem cells. If you're still reading this far, I would most assuredly appreciate your prayers. I'm doing my best to get through this. Wednesday, November 21, 2012. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Saturday, July 28, 2012. This pas...

Project Photos and More. 5/30/2013 Lyle- This is Lyle practicing walking with the mirror to help him keep his leg straight. He's actually walking with a walker. I didn't get the good video of him this afternoon walking. I didn't push the record button hard enough so what I thought I got ended up being nothing. Will try again tomorrow for a good walking video. 5/30/2013 Lyle learning the proper standing position. Video 2 of 3. New pictures added 3/29/2013. Check out Quilt Photos. For the finished quilting.
