Retinal Detachment - My Story
Retinal Detachment - My Story. This blog is my diary and story of my experience of retinal detachment. Thursday, 24 January 2013. Discharged from the Eye Clinic! On January 10th, just over a year after my retinal detachment surgery I had my '6 month' post op check up. It involved a field of vision test, and the usual eye poking stuff. There is no sign of a cataract - these usually appear within 6 months after surgery and I'll probably get one at some point, but who knows when (I do like to defy the odds).

Symptoms of Retina Damage
A sudden change in vision may indicate that your retina is damaged! If you are experiencing these symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention from an eye doctor or hospital emergency room as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage to your vision. These (usually) painless changes should not be ignored:. Flashing lights in the peripheral vision. Sudden increase in floaters. A ring of floaters or lines. The appearance of a curtain or shadow moving across your vision. Loss of central vision.
