A culmination of retail minds. Sunday, August 22, 2010. The Price of Loyalty. Few months back I walked into the newly opened Hyper City in Bengaluru, and I was pleasantly surprised with the wide aisles, wide range of assortment, immaculate merchandise display, helpful sinages, et all. I had a great shopping experience. Well, almost. Would have expected is tagging membership eligibility to a minimum bill value. When retailers globally, are looking at innovative ways of obtaining Single Customer View, acro...

http://retailog.blogspot.com/2009/11/store-launch.html
A culmination of retail minds. Monday, November 02, 2009. Few days back, I visited a retail outlet which was recently launched, and opened to customer traffic. Having been associated with two Hypermarket launches during the initial years of my retail career, it was a nostalgic moment. And I take immense pride in the fact that I belong to the same flock. Retailog: Customer Expectations
http://retailog.blogspot.com/2009/11/service-expectations.html
A culmination of retail minds. Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Last week my parents were scheduled to board a long distance train, but unfortunately the train was late by 15 hours. This we realised after driving 18 kms through Bangalore's messy traffic. Best practice would have been to call up the railway enquiry and seek an update on the timings, which we ignored and directly drove off to the station. Now if the same have had happened with any of the leading domestic airlines, the passengers would have gone...

The recent retail boom across India, has resulted in the retailers waking up to the importance of POGs and have built up dedicated teams whose key result areas are POG – ing and visual merchandising. Retailog: Retail Advertising
http://retailog.blogspot.com/2009/11/retail-advertising.html
A culmination of retail minds. Wednesday, November 04, 2009. This was 10 years ago. Indian retail has undergone a sea change since then, and now most of the outdoor ad space is taken up by one retailer or the other, announcing launch offers or season sale. Even the radio air waves have been innundated with retail stores' advertisements. Will all this advertising work? Especially in India word of mouth sells! Jokes apart retaiers in the west are being clever enough to extract maximum advt expenditure from...

The coming months will see consolidation of sorts, like the one we witnessed between flipkart.com and myntra.com to tackle the onslaught of amazon.in, and sprucing up the of the back-end operations, especially in the areas of returns management and payment reconciliation. http://retailog.blogspot.com/2014/05/pvr-cinemas-inconvenient-fees.html
A culmination of retail minds. Saturday, May 31, 2014. PVR Cinemas - Inconvenient Fees. I have been an ardent fan of PVR Cinemas since the time I relocated to Bangalore in 2005. My favorite PVR Cinema is the one located in Forum, Koramangala. Off late, the one located in Phoenix Market-city is turning out to be my favorite destination for one main reason - 2D screening of Hollywood blockbusters. Even Malco in the US charges convenience fees for tickets booked online. Sunday, 01 June, 2014. Ethereal templ...

Retailog: July 2006
http://retailog.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
A culmination of retail minds. Sunday, July 16, 2006. Contributed by Sirish Mellacheruvu. One of the very important concerns of Indian retail has been the lack of processes and systems, even in a few organized retailers. Thankfully there are a bunch of Indian retailers, who do have an organized way of operating the business and also do exercise controls over the systems at regular intervals. The question now arises, why do we have to do it? Because, we are in the race to provide the customers, the best!
