Just another WordPress.com site. 23 days after I say I am really busy I finally have time to update my blog. Now I have a Smörgåsbord of topics to talk about, as long as I can remember them. Work dominated the schedule for the week, and if you didn’t start early, then everything piled up with only one day between each assignment. Working hard deserves playing hard. Just another WordPress.com site. Last Friday I took a very long day trip into New York City. I took the Ossining train to Grand Central Station. From there we took a bus to Pier 14 for a 2 hour cruise tour that goes out past Ellis Island and a little ways up the East river before turning around. The tour guide was very funny. Just another WordPress.com site. Back from one hell of an adventure. I arrived back from my 6 week long trip early May. It has been quite a readjustment to not constantly be rolling side to side, or be on watch every 6 to 12 hours. I miss sailing. But most of all I miss the 28 other people I was sailing with. Just another WordPress.com site. It is only the second day, and it feels like I have been here for weeks. We all get along pretty well. There are 2 classes here, one is the Pacific class and the other is the Atlantic (my) class. Class is from 8:30 to 12:00pm, and then again at 1:30 until whenever we happen to finish. Everyday we have to take 3 weather observations throughout the day. We have to record wind speed and direction, temperature, type of clouds and cloud cover, and air pressure. Next Post →.

Just another WordPress.com site. The drive from Stony Point to Woods Hole was uneventful, with the exception of the amazing scenery outside every window of the car. The SEA semester campus is extraordinary, and I was the first into my dorm so I got to pick my bed, desk, etc. The real challenge was food. Most all of these shells come from the Phillippines. I travelled to several small islands including Mactan and bought these shells in 1978. The photos were taken in 2007.
