After a few drinks and a couple fried pork tenderloin sandwiches, the bill came to about $25 with tip. We ate the Western Inn at 610 J Street in La Porte, Indiana, a restaurant she’s been visiting for probably half a century. I suggested we go to the family dining room, but she opted instead for the smokey barroom, where, she said, there’s more excitement. From → Out and About.

I don’t remember how this came up, but a quick poll last night revealed to me it’s very common for Midwesterners not to have ever shot a gun. I and David, who’s from Atlanta, thought that was weird.
