Pearls of Wisdom: The Story of Pearl
http://myservicedog.blogspot.com/2007/05/story-of-pearl.html
A journal about choosing and training your own service companion. Tuesday, May 15, 2007. The Story of Pearl. A friend came by to fix my van last week. He's quite talented. Along with his skills as a mechanic, he's quite a musician, owns several martial arts schools and he and his wife are ordained ministers with a wonderful congregation. It's his capacity as a minister that comes into play here. There I met Pearl, a five-week old Doberman Pinscher. She's going to be HUGE! The Baker's breed supersized.
Pearls of Wisdom: It's Official
http://myservicedog.blogspot.com/2007/05/its-official.html
A journal about choosing and training your own service companion. Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Pearl comes home on Sunday. I have a lot to do to get ready. My puppy needs an entire layette! Knowing that I am prone to go overboard, I am trying to hold back and buy what we need as we need it. We'll see if I'm able to restrain myself. See Pearl's teaching me already. Oh, just go hog wild, we did. :). May 29, 2007 at 2:57 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). To sleep, perchance to dream. What was I thinking?
Pearls of Wisdom: What was I thinking?
http://myservicedog.blogspot.com/2007/05/pearls-coming-home-in-few-days.html
A journal about choosing and training your own service companion. Monday, May 21, 2007. What was I thinking? Pearl's coming home in a few days. What was I thinking? I'm nuts to bring a puppy home. How am I going to manage even the little things like housebreaking her? These are the thoughts that woke me at 3:00 AM this morning and kept me tossing for a while. Then I remembered having very similar thoughts when I was expecting. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). To sleep, perchance to dream.
Pearls of Wisdom: Pearl’s Home!
http://myservicedog.blogspot.com/2007/05/pearls-home.html
A journal about choosing and training your own service companion. Monday, May 28, 2007. Get a look at the size of those paws! We received Pearl yesterday from breeders, Suzan and Paul Baker. What wonderful people they are! In spite of our best intentions, she wouldn’t “go” out back; she waited until we were back in the house to drop her butt. C’est la vie. It’s not the first or last time that pee will hit the floor. Thankfully, it’s slate. Sooo, the routine begins. Food, play, sleep, potty. Repea...She n...
Pearls of Wisdom: Poor Pearl
http://myservicedog.blogspot.com/2007/05/poor-pearl.html
A journal about choosing and training your own service companion. Friday, May 18, 2007. No, this is NOT the latest in doggie fashion. Pearl, being a Doberman, needs to look like a Doberman, she was in today to have her ears cropped and dew claws removed. I caught up with her at the vet and held her as she came out of the anesthesia. At six weeks of age, she's already bigger than most of the ankle biters that came through while we were there. Pearl comes home in about two weeks. Yea! What was I thinking?

Pearls of Wisdom
A journal about choosing and training your own service companion. Tuesday, May 29, 2007. To sleep, perchance to dream. Since it is critical that she bond with me, I handle her solely. I feed her, play with her, take her out and get her in and out of her crate. She naps but if she wakes up and can't find me, she cries. I don't want someone else to comfort her at this point until we are firmly bonded. Suzan has a good eye for picking service dogs. So what makes a good service dog? Temperament. From wha...

Betty's Place One | Just another WordPress.com site
Betty's Place One. Just another WordPress.com site. May 18, 2011. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn’s rain. When you awaken in the mornings hush. I am the swift uplifting rush. Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die. Do not stand at my grave and weep.
