My Shanxi Trip 2014. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Wutai Shan - Mountain of 5 Terraces. Wutaishan comprises 5 mountains arranged east, south, west north and in the middle. Instead of peaks, there are broad terraces and this part of China is one of 4 important seats of Buddhism in China. The rest are Mt. Emei, Mt Putuo and Mt Jiuhua in the respective provinces of Sichuan, Zhejiang and Anhui. There are numerous temples and Wutaishan is considered as the abode of the Boddhisatva Manjusri.
