beautiful thorns: March 2015

http://www.beautifulthorns.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 27, 2015. Behind the Name, Beautiful Thorns. Years ago I went through a severe trial and very intense spiritual warfare. After that happened, I cried out to the Lord and told him, "I just want a normal, leisurely life"! Well, he heard my prayer and he left me alone for the next 6 years. Needless to say, I was miserable! There were no spiritual consolations; I did not sense or hear from the Lord at all during that time. The worst part about it though was my passion towards him was gone!

beautiful thorns: January 2015

http://www.beautifulthorns.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Roller Coasters, Puppies, and Learning to Fly! The past eleven days has been a real roller coaster ride! I am not a big fan of roller coasters, either at amusement parks or in real life! They make me nauseous and I'm not a fan of the thrill. Sometimes however the trials of life that feel like roller coaster rides can help us grow the most in faith. Hopefully the story I am about to tell will produce growth in me. After-all, the Lord can use anything (Romans 8:28)! The younger...

beautiful thorns: May 2015

http://www.beautifulthorns.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 30, 2015. After all, shouldn't we be doing spiritual acts out of love for God and not just to gain an indulgence? This year, the topic of indulgences has come up multiple times among Protestants I know, who are considering Catholicism. Also, a group I belong to at my church had a discussion about indulgences recently. These things have provided an opportunity for me to look into the topic more closely. The spirit of this age is pervasive! The good news however is there is another way! You a...

casual theology: Living for the King

http://www.casualtheology.com/2014/11/living-for-king.html

Monday, November 24, 2014. Living for the King. Yesterday was the solemnity of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the liturgical year, and the perfect occasion to reflect on what it means to call Christ my king. Of course before Christ can reign over society he must reign over us individually. Before Jesus can be Lord over our culture he must be Lord of our hearts, minds, and wills. Pius XI recognized this and presented the Church with the following challenges. 8220;For I do not do the good I want to do...

casual theology: Captain Catholic

http://www.casualtheology.com/2015/03/captain-catholic.html

Friday, March 20, 2015. What’s your favorite super power? Wouldn’t it be great to have a super power? Steve Rogers was the proto-typical 98-pound weakling. He had a brave and heroic spirit, but physically there’s just not much to him. Steve was selected to take part in a secret government experiment. He was injected with Super-Soldier Serum and subjected to Vita-Rays. Steve was transformed into Captain America, a super soldier with super strength. In Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger. 8220;Dear...

casual theology: Matthew 2 - Following in the Footsteps of the Magi

http://www.casualtheology.com/2015/01/matthew-2-following-in-footsteps-of-magi.html

Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Matthew 2 - Following in the Footsteps of the Magi. What can we learn from the Magi? So often we focus on the gifts they brought, but St. John Chrysotom reminds us that they can also be a model for discipleship. Labels: blogging thru the Gospels. I appreciate and enjoy the writings os St. John Chrysotum, since he has such a keen perceptive and ability to speak beyond the written word in his writings. Enjoyed this reading! Friday, May 2, 2014. Note: Well, time flies. I had every intention of posting during the Easter Triddum and especially on Easter Sunday, but busy schedules and internet connectivity issues at home conspired against me. Fortunately, it is still the Easter season.). 8220; And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile. You are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep. In Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. All of ...

Mysterium Cosmographicum | The Sacred Mystery of the Cosmos

The Sacred Mystery of the Cosmos. Beautiful Universe – Pencil Nebula! October 8, 2012. Pencil Nebula (Credit: ESO). Some 11,000 years ago, people living in the Southern Hemisphere of Earth must have been completely amazed by a ‘short-lived star’ which was sssso bright that it could be seen even in daytime. That suddenly brightened star was at the final stage of it’s lifetime and what we saw was actually a Supernovae Blast – the end of a supermassive star. Out there… it is always Diwali! Mysterium Crucis

Due to the most recent provisions in Canon Law, no literate person in the process of conversion to Catholicism can refuse to start an online journal and incessantly prattle on the minutiae of his spiritual growth to a surprisingly receptive clique of lay intellectuals. Not one to disobey, Will launched this blog. PS Reloading the page sometimes does the trick. Wa on my mind. Fr William G. Most. Sunday, April 27, 2003. I extend my belated welcome to St. Blog's. Thursday, August 21, 2008. Damn, it's been a long time since my last post, but life has been. So here are a few random thoughts and updates. 1 - We had baby! Lillian (Lily) Paige Ponchak was born on 8/5/08 and weighed in at 6lbs, 0oz. Mom and baby are doing well and we're still trying to adjust to less sleep. That's four girls for those of you keeping score at home. I am humbly accepting donations to the Ponchak Daughters Wedding Fund. 2 - We sold our old house and bought a new one! Links to this post.
