Brenda Larson's Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. May 14, 2010. Thoroughly enjoying what is. The view from my window this morning, as I write. It’s a Friday morning and I’m looking out the window as I work in my home office, gathering info for a magazine I’m writing and editing for my old bosses at The News and Observer. One friend marveled at my maturity. Another marveled at my relaxed attitude about it, about The N&O laying me off. And here’s what’s important:. 1 Brian. He’s my rock...2 Erin&...

Brenda Larson's Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. March 24, 2010. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. I think it was mile 8 when I realized I could really do this, I could really finish a half-marathon. I was going to have a 13.1 magnet for the back of my car! I felt strong. I felt powerful. I felt really proud of myself. Of course, that’s also when the first of the marathoners passed me with his just over a five-minute-mile pace, but that’s not really the point. I didn’t have great training...

Brenda Larson's Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. December 21, 2010. No crying over spilled cranberry juice. This morning, as we were rushing around the house getting ready for school and work, the girl decided she would take her cranberry juice into the great room to sit and look at the Christmas tree lights. Nice thought … right up to the point where the glass went over and cranberry juice flowed freely in a big red puddle on the carpet. I didn’t realize how badly she was feeling about it&...

Brenda Larson's Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. April 21, 2011. Children’s mental health program at risk. There’s a program at the Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood. That helps very young children with a variety of issues in the security of their own homes. It’s called SecurePath. If you’re up on your state budget news, you likely just said to yourself, “Uh-oh, that program is in danger” and you’d be right. So that they understand that helping children with emotional issues early is the be...

Brenda Larson's Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. September 17, 2010. Why we love our girl. As I sat on the edge of the girl’s bed last night, she started crying. 8220;Mom, will you adopt my friend? 8221; she asked. “Please? You have to adopt her.”. No, our family is full, but why do you ask, I said. 8220;She has to get out of her house. She says she’s going to kill herself,” my girl cried, heart breaking. “If that happens, I will feel horrible! So, I went to the school and talked to the head coun...

Brenda Larson's Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. August 13, 2010. The irony of parenting. Well, it’s been six weeks since I officially started as publisher of Carolina Parent. In the Triangle. An incredibly fast six weeks. 8221; (Did I mention that I love Peter? I do love this job, it is perfect for me. I hope the company will think so. What I’ve noticed in the past six weeks, since becoming publisher of Carolina Parent, is that I’ve become a spectacularly dismal parent. The irony! You are commen...

What do you wear to jail? | Brenda Larson's Blog
https://brendalarson.wordpress.com/2010/10/28/what-do-you-wear-to-jail
Brenda Larson's Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. October 28, 2010. What do you wear to jail? That was my big dilemma this morning and, for some reason, it made me think of my friend Faith (greatsmitten, you should read her). Faith is the type of person who would know exactly what one would wear to go to jail to help raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is what is going to happen in roughly 27 mintues when Fred, my arresting officer, shows up to haul me off to the hoosegow.
