The Mystic River Foundry specializes in repair and restoration work on cast iron fences, but we typically reproduce the original components in aluminum. We work with local ironworkers, fence restoration specialists, finishers, and powdercoaters to produce high quality reproduction components. We cast hundreds of replacement aluminum pickets, using a dedicated board-pattern, for this large fence around the Palmer House in Stonington CT, finished and painted them, and then worked on their installation.

We cast text and graphic plaques in a large number of styles, and work with artists, patternmakers, and rapid prototypers for custom projects as illustrated below. Artist Maggie McLaughlin brought us her original bas relief work to use as patterns to produce these bronze castings . We cast many different images, logos, and bas relief details - as either one-offs or limited production runs. We work with multiple laser engravers, abrasive finishing, polishing , anodizing , and powdercoating subcontractors .

I finally got to thinking that it would be neat to have some parts cast from the patterns to show my students. I found my way to the Mystic River Foundry ( www.mysticriverfoundry.com. On Thursday, 10 July 2003 I was invited to the Foundry to have my parts cast. I arrived at 10:00 AM and Sharon started right in giving me the full course on molding and casting molten metals.
