Extra virgin olive oil. 1 pound ground beef. 3 tablespoons chili seasoning blend (recipe follows). 1 cup hominy (from a can, drained). 8 ounces tomato sauce. 15 ounces beans (I used red kidney beans). Serve piping hot in bowls. 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cumin. 1-1/2 teaspoons dried oregano. 1-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder. 1 tablespoon chili powder. 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper. No, I learned of it's existence when I was in my early-20s visiting folks in Pennsylvania. A stop at Cracker Barrel along the way was my introduction into the world of creamy sausage-filled gravy over hot buttermilk biscuits.
