Asiri's Quest: February 2010
http://mythilssecret.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
A book. An imaginary world. Half here, half there. Sunday, 7 February 2010. Grandmothers are treasure troves. My two grandmothers told me so many stories from their childhood and young-adulthood that I think if I had stepped into a wormhole that took me back in time to the early- to mid-1900s I would have managed to fit in without anyone realising I was from the future. I think being a girl in those days was a lot safer though. Here's a story from each that has to do with chivalry and facing bulls. I fou...
Asiri's Quest: Cast as Mother
http://mythilssecret.blogspot.com/2012/05/cast-as-mother.html
A book. An imaginary world. Half here, half there. Friday, 25 May 2012. It's weird how your life changes when you become a mother who opts to stay at home and give up her day job. The well meaning questions you get asked range from 'So what do you do all day? To well. to no questions at all from people you used to know in your old life but who've moved on. Last night's readings from 'Cast as Mother' were a delicious and unapologetic romp into the world of motherhood - with the audience laughing their way...
Asiri's Quest: The first review of Asiri's Quest!
http://mythilssecret.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-first-review-of-asiris-quest.html
A book. An imaginary world. Half here, half there. Sunday, 24 November 2013. The first review of Asiri's Quest! The book hasn't even been launched (although it is in most bookshops) so it was a huge surprise to see a review in the Sunday Island. Fortunately the reviewer believes in yakas! Asiri's Quest: The sequel is printed!
http://mythilssecret.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-sequel-is-printed.html
A book. An imaginary world. Half here, half there. Tuesday, 29 October 2013. The sequel is printed! I haven't yet held it in my hands but it's been printed, bound and shipped to Perera Hussein Publishing House. Yes, the sequel to Mythil's Secret is really happening! How do I feel? Ecstatic. Nervous. Happy. Stressed out! Is it any good? That's the nail-biting question. That's what's stressing me out. I think it's good. But obviously I don't count right? 14 November 2013 at 15:43. 16 November 2013 at 09:25.
Asiri's Quest: July 2010
http://mythilssecret.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
A book. An imaginary world. Half here, half there. Saturday, 31 July 2010. For kids or grow-ups? I've been asked whether Mythil's Secret is for children or adults. Well I wrote it for the pre- to early teen age group because when I was that age I couldn't find any English language books that I could really relate to. Of course there were fantastic books set in Middle Earth or Narnia or England or America. but hardly any set in Sri Lanka for young Sri Lankan readers. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Diary Doodles: Distracted walking
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2014/03/distracted-walking.html
Wednesday, 19 March 2014. So there's a new law against texting and driving in Ontario! Higher fines, yay! She weaved between lanes making it incredibly hard for me to get to where I wanted to go. All the while I could see a hand holding up a phone for the driver. So I am not sure how this is going to turn out for us. When people do that while walking, we just walk into them because our bums are not fitted with brake lights are they! I said just that to the first woman I walked into yesterday!
Diary Doodles: Christos Tsiolkas
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2014/07/christos-tsiolkas.html
Monday, 21 July 2014. If there is one author everyone must read in the current times I'd say it is Christos Tsiolkas. My brother and his lovely wife recommended him to me during a recent visit. My brother was not much of a reader growing up, so when he suggested I read it I was a bit skeptical, but Tsiolkas' The Slap. Are two of the most riveting books I have read recently. Diary Doodles: September 2011
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, 15 September 2011. Another day, another year older. It has been many many many moons since I was born on this day. I am very fond of my place of birth. I would have none of the small town makeshift hospitals. So I caused enough trouble to have my parents drive me to a more sophisticated city. They had almost given up on me, but lo and behold, there I was. And here I am! Now with Orhan Pamuk. He writes well, he only just won the Nobel Prize for literature! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Diary Doodles: October 2011
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 25 October 2011. I could not find the no taste red icing colour. So I decided to use Christmas red instead. I know! Now I had a tonne of red icing that could not be used and an hour and a half left on the clock to get it done. And that's another crazy cake story. I hope they don't all have a story that brings out the nutter in me. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Toronto, Ontario, Canada. View my complete profile. The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling. Diary Doodles: Pizza a la Dork
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2014/02/pizza-la-dork.html
Wednesday, 5 February 2014. Pizza a la Dork. Well, I can't take all the credit for this pizza. I have Martha Stewart to thank for the dough. I always thought it was a lot of work getting the dough done and that it involved a lot of muscle work. I don't care for that because one needs muscles to do it and I replaced mine with fat a while ago. So I was thrilled when I found this recipe for pizza dough. So what did my pizza look like? Diary Doodles: June 2012
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Friday, 22 June 2012. Chicken stir-fry wraps a la Martha. I bought a cook book a while back, Great Food Fast. With Martha Stewart's recipes. I must admit I did not know who she was until she was arrested, but now that I have this book I am truly beginning to appreciate what she does. This book is fantastic for someone like me. The recipes are easy and most of the time I have the ingredients in my pantry, and when I don't it is not all that hard to find them. Thursday, 21 June 2012. I love cheesecake....
Diary Doodles: November 2011
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, 24 November 2011. I love Blue, just all shades of blue. Since I am pressed for time to play with words, I figured I would share with you some recent pictures of this handsome bird. This is the most I have seen of these fellas in the autumn. A feeder is a great way to meet them while they are in transit. Sadly they have sent my smaller visitors flying. Blue jays are very territorial. Labels: My wild friends. Thursday, 10 November 2011. Now scientists are getting closer to finding a vaccine.
Diary Doodles: February 2012
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 8 February 2012. I, like most people I know, got sucked into the whole Facebook and social media business. I connected with people I thought were gone for good from my life. It was great, for a while. I contemplated culling my list; then I considered what my bosom bud has done, create an alternative profile for close friends, but it felt like too much of an effort. I thought about who it is I would miss if Facebook crashed one day, my list of friends boiled down to two people! I have exchanged...
Diary Doodles: March 2013
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 15 March 2013. Here's to my new friends who make Canada a place worth living in! Here's to my monkey for making each day a celebration and here's to my husband who dragged me out here in the first place :). Wednesday, 13 March 2013. Anyhow he came home on Valentines day with the two paper hearts and gave me the cookie and said, "I made this for you and took a bite of the cookie for you, I love you Amma! Tuesday, 12 March 2013. After another long hiatus. So what have I been up to?
Diary Doodles: December 2013
http://diarydoodles.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 7 December 2013. New phone, new frustrations. I have a new phone! Folks tend to get really excited for me when I say that. It is the first time I have said that. I on the other hand have little interest in fancy phones. I still maintain that a telephone should remain just that, a telephone. I started to lament on facebook and realised that my friends are all fancy phone fans. And so here I am in my space, whining. These phones, as fancy as they are aren't as hardy. My Thimble Collection
O blogu About blog. Monday, March 26, 2018.
my thimbleful of meaning | A life more meaningful.
My thimbleful of meaning. A life more meaningful. January 17, 2015. January 17, 2015. I’ve spent days trying to find the words. I forgot again that it’s up to me to choose them. I forgot that they don’t need to be perfect. I forgot that the words don’t need to be lyrical to be valid. I forgot that there are no perfect words. Perfection would be terrible anyway. On this birthday eve, I choose to christen the year to come with these words. Grief is a tricksy little hobbit. December 25, 2014. Grief has its ...
