My Sensational Kids: July 2013
http://mythreesensationalkids.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 27, 2013. Asperger's: To Tell or Not to Tell. After you get an Asperger's diagnosis for your child, you have to decide how and when to tell your child. After that, you must decide who else to tell. Of course, telling his teacher is usually a good idea, and most family and close friends should know. But should you tell everyone else? Should you tell people who may not be familiar with Asperger's or autism? Autism here means nonverbal or Rain Man. On the last night of VBS, the kids had a pro...
My Sensational Kids: February 2013

Wednesday, February 27, 2013. SPD Connect is ordering more SPD Awareness bracelets. You can preorder from them here. They are orange and made from medical grade silicon, so they are safe for our little sensory seekers to chew on! I am not affiliated with SPD Connect; I just like these bracelets! I ordered 4 of them last year, and they have held up great! My SPD boys love wearing them, and I have one for myself too. Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Chewy Jewelry and Toys for Sensory Seekers. I love this neck...

My Sensational Kids: May 2012
http://mythreesensationalkids.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 31, 2012. I Love Your Asperger's. Yesterday, the boy and I were leaving his appointment, and I talked to the counselor for a few minutes. We were discussing his progress, and she said "the proof is in the pudding.". As we walked out, the boy looked at me with his big, brown eyes and asked where the pudding was. I hugged him and told him how much I love his Asperger's. Of course, he still didn't quite get where- or what- the pudding was, but he felt a little better. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
My Sensational Kids: Calming Down After Sensory Overload
http://mythreesensationalkids.blogspot.com/2011/01/calming-down-after-sensory-overload.html
Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Calming Down After Sensory Overload. All children experience sensory overload, not just our sensational SPD kids. The world gets too bright, too noisy, and too rough, and it can be too much to handle. Add in a rough transition and it's enough to make anyone cry. Hungry kids are more likely to melt. My kids get fed a full meal before leaving the house. This doesn't stop any of them from being starving. Deep pressure. Same idea as above, but my younger sensational boy benefits...

My Three Rules originates from, well, my three rules . These are personal rules I have developed as a result of multiple hard knocks and multiple failures in the quest to be a better man. Theyre not profound; however, they are effective. Rule number one: Don’t talk too much. Rule number two: Answer the question you’re asked. Rule number three: You worry about you. My Three Sheep
Finding Something of Value. October 29, 2013 6:12 am. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what is worth doing in this life. I’m so exhausted looking at everything there is to consume. How many books have been written? How many movies have been made? How many songs have been played? Have many pictures have been taken? How many words have been said? Is it a legacy in my career? Is it a legacy in what I create? Is it even related to doing what I’m doing right now in my life? Maybe all my striving took me ...

Three Sisters
Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Across the din of the living. I speak with you. When there were no words, I chose to write those of others. Miss you seems so trite. I do miss hours of coffee talk but mostly I simply miss you. Tuesday, September 16, 2008. Yellow is a bright six-legged bug. And the color of teeth after too much coffee. Yellow is my disposition. And the sun upon tulips. Yellow is the movie Old Yeller. Which made me cry. And the color of banana pudding. Yellow is my favorite pullover sweater.
