Oil for deep frying. 1 Sprinkle and rub some salt and white pepper onto the cleaned fish and marinate for 10 minutes. 2 Coat the marinated fish with cornflour. 3 Deep fry the marinated fish until golden brown. 4 Serve the fried fish with sliced red chilli padi and light soya sauce. Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice. 5 tbsp chopped shallots. 2 tbsp chopped garlic. 100g chopped preserved turnips / chai poh. 1 cucumber (sliced thinly). 1 tsp sesame oil. 2 tbsp light soya sauce. Dash of white pepper. 1 tbsp oyster sauce. 3 tbsp black soya sauce. 2 tbsp light soya sauce. 2 tbsp shaoxing wine. 1/2 tsp five spice powder. 1 Saute chopped shallots and garlic until aromatic. 2 Add in minced pork and star anise. Keep stirring until fragrant and cooked. 5 hard boiled eggs.

Monday, October 31, 2011. Stir-fried Japanese Cucumber With Glass Noodle. 1 tbsp chopped dried shrimp. 1 japanese cucumber (cut into slices). 3 cloves garlic (chopped). Glass noodle (cut into 6-7cm length). 1/2 tsp chopped red chilli. 1 tsp oyster sauce. 1 tsp light soya sauce. 1 Saute chopped garlic and dried shrimp until aromatic. 2 Add cucumber slices and red chilli padi. Continue stirring for 2 minutes. 3 Pour in water. Let it simmer for 1 minute or until tender. 4 In the meantime, add in glass noodle.

Nabe Shrine/那部神社 is located quite a long way on foot from Yaizu JR Station but it is worth the log walk even by a scorching summer day. It is located in Hamatome 3 Chome at the foot of a hill overlooking the sea past a steep cliff. The reason it is located from the center is that it had always been a major shrine for local fishermen. There are no less than three stone torii gates along the way leading to the shrine.
