Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Dr Darling has worked his medical magic again for one our critters. Thanks Doc! Oh, and go love on your pets. It's a good thing to do! Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Wild Weather, Wild Critters. It keeps the suffering down, no doubt about that, but, it doesn't allow for the joy that a quiet retirement brings. Hope we, as a people and society can do better with this issue. Judging by your wonderful responses, I'm thinking maybe we can! Monday, February 27, 2012. The answer for t...

Sunday, July 31, 2011. There are so many aspects to having a successful rescue. We went about it backwards. We became a rescue without thinking much about it. The need was there and we started taking equines. We were up to 20 or so when a friend suggested we become a non-profit. It's not the way we would recommend others do it. Money is difficult to come by. There are gracious and generous folks out there who want to help, but you must reach them with compelling stories. Make friends with the pre...It's ...

Friday, September 30, 2011. Have you heard about the herd? From Jim: Horses are herd animals. We're not. That can create some communications. Tuesday, September 27, 2011. From Jim: There are a few things that are absolute. Slaughter of equines is always wrong. You should never beat a horse. Stuff like that, obvious and worth the big DUH. There are also a lot of wobblers. It is never the horse's fault! Monday, September 26, 2011. Having Senior Moments.the older equine. To move more freely. Cushing's.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011. It's 5:30 in the morning and the day has begun. It's still fairly quiet, except for the roosters' happy Good Mornings and an occasional mare squeal. With so many equines, someone is always in heat. The local TV station wants to come and do a program on our young volunteers. Hope they can all make it. We have special girls who give it their all. Not having pictures to show you makes me look at things more closely, so I can share them with you. A seasonal creek runs in the back ...

Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Quest was in the barn so I closed him in a stall to stay dry. Boy, was he mad at me. He wouldn't eat his dinner, but he stayed in any way. Then Callie came in. Her broken knee really pains her when it is cold and wet. If she is still so sore tomorrow we'll give her some pain meds, too. She got locked in also. The back of the barn is open on the yard side, so Bucky and Juan, then Babe and Lacey wandered in. They all ate inside, but didn't get closed in. Monday, May 30, 2011. Wild Bi...

Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Blogger says I have exceeded my image upload so I'll have to just talk. Can't believe the computer and I can't get along. The rainy day was a wonderful break from the heat. Bucky and Frankie decided to have a wild rumpus. They played and ran and genrally caused everyone to keep an eye out for them. Sugar and Moon Dancer decided to move out of the way. The play continued for quite a while. Frankie wasn't quite done. He's looking for mischief. Monday, June 27, 2011. Today we went to...
