Tuesday, September 7, 2010. ACARA a question of morality. I went to a VADEA meeting which attracted over 150 Visual Arts teachers tonight. The ACARA draft papers have many serious ramifications for all teachers of all subjects. It seems in an increasingly Visual world and Culture , the National Curriculum writers are trying to reduce the academic value and the relevance of visual literacy skills in our nations classrooms. After looking at some links on the web2 4 teachers page I found a students e-folio and alot of discussions about uses and applications for Nings and wikis in Visual arts education. After participating in the Claymakers Ilearn project this year I actually used a Ning to comment on presenters material and to follow progress. For example when studying architecture in Yr 12, I could ask google reader to alert me to any SMH articles ( or art journals)about contemporary art and architecture which I could then share with my students via email or MYCLASSES pages.
