Mzungu Jill in Africa! Sunday, May 18, 2008. We are spending our last few hours here in Chicago doing laundry and getting last minute supplies. We had a great day yesterday touring Chi-town with Jill McCann. We went to Millennium Park and Navy Pier. We spent an hour lounging in Oz Park which has a Wizard of Oz theme and I had my first falling down incident, not to worry though I am fine, just clutzy! We can't say thanks enough to Jill McCann for showing us around and giving us a great place to stay!

Saturday, December 19, 2009. There isn't too much to report on. Life in the village has been pretty good. We've had fun walking around and getting to meet the locals. Joyce made us guacamole last night and it was just as good as when we made it a few nights ago. mmm. On monday we will leave for Lake Naivasha where we will spend 2 nights relaxing and checking out Hell's Gate. I'm looking forward to the bikes we get to ride while we are there. The Traveling Banana: November 2009

http://thetravelingbanana.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 30, 2009. My next trip is taking me to Kenya and "Jambo" is how you say "Hello" in Swahili. My 4 week adventure starts tomorrow, December 1st, and will bring me back home on the 29th. I've had great resources to talk to when it came to trip preparations. Three of my friends went this past summer on a trip with a similar itinerary, their advice has been invaluable and I want to give a shout out to Miss Megan Hershiser for being awesome and answering all my questions. The Traveling Banana: Donkey Down and Camel Back

http://thetravelingbanana.blogspot.com/2009/12/donkey-down-and-camel-back.html

Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Donkey Down and Camel Back. This is how we would like to get to the beach.or it was until our friend Kirk "rented" a donkey. Basically he took his donkey driving test, got yelled at by a british woman, the donkey bucked and his ride was over. We have seen camel's at the beach and would really like to ride them, but the locals aren't really feeling it. What can you do? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mzungu Jill in Africa! Saturday, May 31, 2008. And the coke is aaamazing. We have been helping at the school that is about two miles from home here during the school day. They have a special unit for mentally and physically handicapped children and for what we can do that is where we have been assisting. They do without so much though and it seems like we are more of a distraction than anything else. When we return on Tuesday (got a 3 day weekend because of some holiday! But it also provides us with an extra security blanket.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009. So much has happened in the last few days and I don't think I have time to write it all down. We are on a tight schedule. We left the village later than expected to catch a mutatu to Nyahururu. We still have to get to the market and try to get home before dark. The drive from lamu was long, but really great. Sunday, October 4, 2009. That is "goodbye" in Serbian. This will be my last post from Beograd. My baka and I leave on Tuesday afternoon and I'm not looking forward to it. I have been crossing my fingers that she changes her mind and extends the trip, but I don't think that is going to happen. After having 2 iced Nescafes we continuted walking for a bit, had some lunch and, according to Ana, had "Novi Sad's best ice cream. We then got in the car and headed to Sremski Karlovici. 8220;There is No Book that Cannot Help Us”. October 19, 2014. 8220;There is No Book that Cannot Help Us”. I’ll never forget that response. In the summer of 2013 I visited a school in Nakuru County, Kenya. It was one of the very first tours of a primary school I was given, and a conversation I had while I was there made a profound effect on my heart. Let me introduce you to the people in the conversation. From left to right: Chief Kipkrui, Headmaster Josephat Ndungu, and Fred. Now for the second challenge.
