Bending Towards Justice | Accidental Historian

Searching the past to understand the future. August 10, 2015. The United States of America is falling apart. Our politicians are corrupt at worst, completely unserious at best, and have turned the nation into a circus. The civil rights and even lives of large swaths of the population are being abridged. Christian leaders have a stranglehold on the public discourse and even the government. We are divided, we are constantly fighting amongst ourselves. The end, surely, is near. America as a nation is an asp...

Bobbie's Blog: Defenders of the Faith
http://olddawgbob.blogspot.com/2015/04/defenders-of-faith.html
A collection of stark raving randomness. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Defenders of the Faith. One thing that has always stood out to me as long as I can remember is:. Why do fallible humans ALWAYS have to enforce God's laws and will? The Bible says, God will do this; the Quran says, Allah will do that; The Torah says God will do the Other; . if you think or act out certain behaviors . they are ALL specific that GOD will do these thing and that God will hold judgement and mete out "punishment(s)". Even as a b...

The Very Model of a Straw Utilitarian | Comparatively Superlative
https://comparativelysuperlative.wordpress.com/2015/02/05/model
The Very Model of a Straw Utilitarian. It is suggested that you play this. In another tab while reading this.). I am the very model of a good utilitarian. I cultivate the virtues of a great humanitarian. I always switch the trolley so it hits the one and not the five. Because there is a duty and it comes with an imperative. I have a perfect duty to select the one best act and rule. And consequentialism is what’s universalizable. I try to play the role of consequentialists and what they do. In fact when I...

Just Plain Stuff: June 2010
http://guineh.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Tales of the strange, the arcane and the insane. General stuff, parenting, armchair politics, computers, and everything else. Yeah, its generic, yeah its not specific, but I *like* it that way! Sunday, June 20, 2010. Bypassing the Property Grid's Sort Order. While working on a programming project one of the things I wanted to include was the ability to list out the values in the collection in the same way the array lists its items. The code that performs the trick should be rather self-evident:. Two line...

Mockwriting: The Library

The library is one of the largest rooms in the castle, with row after row of shelves all overflowing with books. Comfortable chairs, couches, and small tables are scattered around, though they always seem to be in danger of being assimilated by the shelves. Consider, for example, the following:. I will be experimenting with alternate storytelling formats of my own, in the Experimental. Section of the library. Some of my old short stories will go in the Short. And information about my Novels.

Mockwriting: The Study
http://www.mockwriting.com/study.htm
My study is a mess. I do most of my composition on the computer, but I always have various books scattered around, as well as Kung Fu equipment and (more recently) baby toys. Most likely there's a cat or two as well, usually lying wherever would be least convenient for me. If I'm working, there's probably music playing. The castle's study is devoted to my personal life. For example, here is my biography. I should also include a link to The Book of the Baby. Also available through the Library.

Mockwriting: The Crypt
http://www.mockwriting.com/crypt.htm
This is my underground sanctuary. It's tight, humid, a little cold until you've been in here for a while. This room is really just a nod to my love of caves and my occasional need for time alone. If I were a vampire, I suppose I could keep my coffin down here. Is an interesting word. It comes from the Greek kruptos. So it's actually related to terms like cryptography and cryptic. It doesn't have to be a burial chamber (and, come to that, it doesn't have. While I do not.

Spear vs. Sword. Click for larger image. I'm the one on the right.). My view of the martial arts is fairly broad; I consider greco-roman wrestling, collegiate fencing, and the SCA's light- and heavy-fighting to be legitimate martial arts. My studies have included Tong Long (Northern Seven-Star Praying Mantis) Kung Fu and Ba Qua (Eight Trigrams) Kung Fu. I am currently a student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Real Swords vs. Show Swords.
