Panda class are for students entering 1st Grade during the 2016-2017 school year. We would love to have any Japanese storybooks or books about Japan you would like to share for the children to see. Please be sure to put your name in the books, if you have any to share with tha class. Please have your child bring the following supplies in a box labled with your child's name. The box will stay in the class for the whole session. Bottle of glue (medium size). An old shirt/paint smock.

Tsuru class are for students entering 8th Grade during the 2016-2017 school year. Tsuru class will primarily focus on Angel Island and immigartion, picture brides, immigration laws, Japanese relocation and internment camps, question of loyalty and reparation. In addition, as a cultural aspect, kabuki, calligraphy, and craft making with washi paper. Please have your child bring the following supplies in a box labeled with your child's name. The box will stay in the class for the whole session.

Ryu class are for students entering 7th Grade during the 2016-2017 school year. In Ryu class, the focus will be on the Tokugawa Era. Among the things to be studied are Confucianism, Buddhism, and Shinto, castles, and womes's role in feudal Japan. The second week will feature a class performance of Bunraku (puppetry) and the class field trip to the San Francisco Asian Art Museum. Colored markers and pencils. Ryu Class Welcome Letter and Information Sheet. Field Trip Consent form.
