When should you harvest your backyard hops? – Washington Beer Blog
http://www.washingtonbeerblog.com/when-should-harvest-your-backyard-hops
When should you harvest your backyard hops? August 12, 2015. Someone pinged me via email and asked for some advice on when to harvest his backyard hop crop. Indeed, this has been a hot and dry summer, so how does that impact the harvest schedule? I suspect some other people are wondering the same thing. Here’s how I replied:. The farmers harvest when the cones show a certain amount of moisture, about 75%. I’m not sure how they measure, what kind of instruments they have, but I’ve stood in...There are ver...
Tumwater Artesian Brewfest, August 22 – Washington Beer Blog
http://www.washingtonbeerblog.com/tumwater-artisian-brewfest
Tumwater Artesian Brewfest, August 22. August 13, 2015. Comments Off on Tumwater Artesian Brewfest, August 22. Back in the old days, before craft beer dominated the local brewing industry, the forests of the Cascade Mountains were haunted by two mythical creatures: Wild Rainiers and Artesians. The latter where the bearded, troll-like creatures responsible for guarding the secret wells that produced the sublimely pure water used to brew Olympia Beer. This third annual event has quickly become a local favo...

Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Half Acre Beer Co. Heyoka IPA - An Everyday West Coast IPA. Here is an entry I recently posted. On Illinois' Half Acre Brewing Company's Heyoka IPA, in which I also ruminate on how hoppy beers have gotten out of control, sending prices to stratospheric levels. Enjoy. As a common man, I appreciate this tip for a good tasting cheap beer. April 18, 2014 at 2:31 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Subscribe To Mark and Shaun's Beer Blog! Mark and Shaun's Beer Blog: Speakeasy Ales & Lagers Black Hand Milk Stout
http://www.markandshaunbeer.com/2013/05/speakeasy-ales-lagers-black-hand-milk.html
Friday, May 31, 2013. Speakeasy Ales and Lagers Black Hand Milk Stout. A buddy of mine recently went on a date and was fired up about it. These days, what does a guy do when a date is going well? He texts his closest buddies about great beers, that's what! So I get a mid-date text from him demanding that I try and also review Speakeasy's milk stout. Well, okay! It has a dense, gritty mouthfeel and is as chewy as it looks. The mouthfeel is almost coffee-like. I. It's a combination of coffee, licorice, swe...

Wednesday, May 27, 2009. A "Hit" From The Land of The Rising Sun - Hitachino Nest Ale. So, I was out in Seattle back in March and experienced some typical Seattle weather for most of the time I was there. But, who cares when you have a whole day dedicated to the Washington State Cask Beer Festival? At least, I seem to recall that I might have been at such a place - after drinking barleywine. It got a little hazy. Links to this post. Sunday, May 24, 2009. Lagunitas: The Saison of Summer. A great non-hefe ...

Mike, sarah and nollie. Mike and I spent Labor Day weekend on the Peninsula. We went to the coast, hiked at Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park, checked out Forks and La Push, and Mike even skated at the parks in Port Angeles and Forks. Thanks again to Jen and her family for inviting us to join them this year. We had a great time! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Keeping Track of Jack. The Jolly Roger Taproom. Portage between Ross Lake and Diablo Lake. We also went to Leavenworth. Leif briefly stopped playing with Legos. Willy being a role model. Zach on his way to Jackson Hole. Craig contemplates the big boy drop-in. 10 miles outside town, and we still have to deal with people sleeping on the ramp like it's the Ballard Bowl.
