Scriveners River: How writing is like snowshoeing
http://scrivenersriver.blogspot.com/2015/02/how-writing-is-like-snowshoeing.html
Monday, February 2, 2015. How writing is like snowshoeing. It's a great day to snowshoe. The most recent storm left a foot and a half of snow on the ground, and the trails have been untouched for eight days, according to the log at the trail-head. Mysterious Women
http://www.myswomen.com/NWright.html
When did you start writing mysteries? Thus my first mystery, Mad Season, was born, and published by St. Martin's Press in 1996. Where did you get the idea for the character of Ruth Willmarth? I turned the real life farmers into a husband and wife farm team and had the wife die from the assault. But I had to have a sleuth, and who better than the woman next door, who would also be a farmer? To restore order out of the chaos of our lives? It's why we read, too. No one too gorgeous or Hollywoodish. I interv...

Jacqueline Seewald: Tips on Creating Symbolism in Fiction by Jacqueline Seewald
http://jacquelineseewald.blogspot.com/2015/06/tips-on-creating-symbolism-in-fiction.html
Monday, June 29, 2015. Tips on Creating Symbolism in Fiction by Jacqueline Seewald. Is symbolism needed in novels or short fiction? I would say yes- if a writer wants his or her work to have quality and stand out. Here are some tips on creating symbolism:. First, decide on an overall theme or idea that unites your work. It should connect setting, plot and characters in some significant way. In the twentieth century, writers like Hemingway and Fitzgerald were masters of symbolism. Color imagery was of...
