My vessels reference archetypal ceramic forms, which I choose because of their formal strengths and cultural significance. I am particularly interested in the torso shaped ceramic vessel known as the amphora. From the characteristically pointy base of a Phoenician amphora to the diminutive size of the Portland vase, amphorae were unique to a region, civilization and function. They are monumental and intimate, sacred and functional.
