Nancy's Travels 2: Normandy
http://nancystravels2.blogspot.com/2009/02/normandy.html
Wednesday, February 4, 2009. I’m not sure. Ironically, there are a bunch of good museums in Normandy, mostly* related to WWII, and we didn’t set foot in a single one. So I guess that just confirms that the weather wasn’t impossible - or maybe that we are a little daffy, depending on your frame of reference! We also used up a day and a half of our precious 4 day weekend just getting to and from our destination. Ouch again! But such is life. We didn’t dare venture anywhere near the edge of the cliffs...

Nancy's Travels 2: February 2009

Friday, February 27, 2009. A Taste of Sicily. How could that be? We did actually have travelling companions on this trip, Mike’s chaplain boss from Heidelberg and his wife – Jerry and Cynthia Jones. So if at any point you start thinking that maybe I’m just making things up to cover for myself you can come back to this blog in a few days and see if there are any protests in the comment section at the end. The tension emptied out of our car with one giant swoosh, like air out of a balloon. Unbelievable!

Nancy's Travels 2: November 2008
http://nancystravels2.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 24, 2008. Catch a glimpse of the Coloseum and St. Peter’s Basilica as you land in Rome. And be in a rent car driving away from Rome by 9:30AM. If you buy your tickets a month or so ahead and pick an “off weekend”. Don’t check any bags. Take the trouble to play Ryanair’s little game for getting your airport check-in fee refunded. In Colorado we have these things called “ghost towns.” They are typically a half dozen buildings. Obviously there is a ton that could be said about Pompeii. ...

Nancy's Travels 2: February 2008
http://nancystravels2.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 8, 2008. The Four Corners of Europe - Wales, Greece, Mallorca and Krakow. In the last 3 months, Mike and I have been on 4 sightseeing trips. Each of them involved traveling a considerable distance in a totally different direction: we went northwest to Wales, southeast to mainland* Greece, southwest to Mallorca, Spain, and - most recently - northeast to Krakow, Poland. It would not be much of an exaggeration to say that we have traveled to the four corners of Europe. Unless you are more i...

Monday, October 20, 2008. Crying Over Spilt Milk. Would that I should be so lucky. But alas, it was not to be. Notice, I am avoiding telling you exactly who. Spilled the milk on my computer. Suffice it to say that it was not I – though I am. Perfectly capable of such things. On to more important issues – like “where in the world are Mike and Nancy living at the moment? 8221; And more interesting issues – like “where have Mike and Nancy been traveling since the last travelogue? We sort of think we’v...

Nancy's Travels 2: November 2007

Wednesday, November 7, 2007. It's All Greek to Me. Many of you are aware that I have had 2 years of New Testament* Greek. I was an audit student, but I didn’t just sit through those classes, I did ALL the work. In fact I basically broke the “audit student mold” and aced those classes. And enjoyed every minute of it. Yes, I know, I’m a little weird. But the point is:. For me, the Greek language is no longer a good metaphor for total incomprehensibility. When our plane lifted off the tarmac at. Regardless,...

Monday, May 8, 2006. Great Britain and Normandy Historical Tour. It's been quite awhile since my last travelogue - last November to be exact. Deanna came home for Christmas and we did basically nothing - at her request. Then I spent 2. Months in Tacoma, Washington* auditing some classes at Northwest Baptist Seminary and spending time with my kids. When I got back to Germany I was kind of ready to stay put for a while, but it was time for a trip that I committed to long ago. When I left the group on April...

Saturday, September 30, 2006. Some Roads Lead to Rome. 8220;All roads lead to. 8221; is probably not axiomatic for the 21. Century, but I can now verify first-hand, that at least SOME roads do still lead to. Travel time by car from. The manifest for this particular expedition was as follows:. My dad and brother (Curt), Alan, Amy, and a friend from Heidelberg named Marion. And* met us there so that he could limit his time away from work to a 4 day pass and not burn up leave. Our first destination was.
