the economy of mercy: July 2008
http://hildigga.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 25, 2008. The summer's going by fast. I look to the end of the summer for some changes: back to school for the last semester, moving to my third house in three years (also other people moving to new houses), as always in the fall good friends are moving on, weddings (no not mine), and moving into a new phase at my church where i'm not sure if i even have a place at the moment. Weird and a weird summer it's been. I'm going to wait a few days i think. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

the economy of mercy: Decisions
http://hildigga.blogspot.com/2012/01/decisions.html
Thursday, January 5, 2012. I was asked to do something today that I am probably the right person to do. Something that in some ways would be very natural to me I believe, but in other ways might be very hard and play on many of my weaknesses. Regardless of that, it is probably meant that I should do it. I was asked for help today by a man who has carried the weight of this city on his shoulders. You have crowned the year with Your goodness" the Psalmist said. And so He has. The economy of mercy.

Thursday, October 21, 2010. Serve vs. volunteer. If the local church is driven by task management then all we ask people to do is volunteer to be "a part" of the church. If the local church is driven by discipleship then what we do is ask people to serve the community. Serving the community is what Jesus came to do (Matt. 20:28) and in serving the community we become more like Jesus."that's people becoming the church.". Serving the Community.Becoming the Church" I like the way that sounds. I think It's l...

the economy of mercy: akron in the Fall
http://hildigga.blogspot.com/2008/09/akron-in-fall.html
Friday, September 5, 2008. Akron in the Fall. I went to cf for the first time this year last night, and while i knew it was coming, it was the first time it really hit me: my version of akron is different now. And it hit me last night: akron is going to be different. this year is going to be different. I think that change is going to drive me back to my introverted self again for a while. so you might be able to read more of my life here. September 9, 2008 at 11:44 PM. What does your schedule look like?

Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Saturday, December 17, 2011. Let Your Roots Grow. I grew up in a small town. I mean small. No stop lights and the main stop sign was a RIGHT TURN PERMITTED WITHOUT STOPPING. Small town. After moving to Seattle and going to the University of Washington I always thought a small town was something good to be from. I thought I was a city kid for life. Something has happened this past year. I have become a small town kid again.and I love it! 1) Volunteer in your city.

the economy of mercy: May 2008
http://hildigga.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 15, 2008. Something i'm becoming more and more thoughtful and passionate about. One of my best and dearest friends in the world is a black man. that in and of itself has indirectly exposed me to a lot of the racism of others and taught me to be careful how i think of things. That said. more careful thought is needed. Tuesday, May 13, 2008. I have to turn in my school laptop today. and so i've been sitting here, removing the files that i've built up over the past two semesters.

Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Love the City Serve the City. I love my city. I haven't always been able to say that and mean it. Now, I have. Said it in the past but it felt different than it does these days. When most people say they love their city they mean they enjoy the local bakery or they like the schools or they find their neighborhood appealing. But do you really love your city?
