Fix bayonets!: January 2012

http://napoleonicmadness.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 4 January 2012. An update at last! Well, first of all a Happy New Year to all of my fellow hobbyists out there! May 2012 bring you happiness, health and joy and may you conquer the lead mountain! I am sure that the last part is near impossible for most of us especially if we consider the speed that many companies release new figures ( I am thinking of the imminent release of the Russian Perry's). Lets hope 2012 will give me the discipline to paint these two battalions . View my complete profile.

Fix bayonets!: March 2011

http://napoleonicmadness.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, 31 March 2011. American War of Independence. Ever since I moved to Japan my painting focus sifted from Fantasy and the American War of Independence to Napoleonics. Of course this doesn't mean that I lost my interest in fantasy or the AWI but I am beginning to realise that a miniature collection in 28mm takes a lot of space. Either way, my AWI collection will have to go since it takes some valuable space that I could use for my napoleonics ;). Hope you like them ;). Von Bose Regiment 18 models.

Fix bayonets!: 13th Legere - 1st Battalion

http://napoleonicmadness.blogspot.com/2011/09/13th-legere-1st-battalion.html

Sunday, 11 September 2011. 13th Legere - 1st Battalion. After many months in a semi-complete stage I finally finished the 1st Battalion of the 13th Legere. Hopefully in the next months I should be able to paint the 3rd Battalion as well and complete the 13th Legere. Figures as always are Perry and the Flag is GMB. Hope you like them! 11 September 2011 at 10:25. Beautiful work, Achilles. I like the way you have mixed plastic and metal figures. What blues did you use? 11 September 2011 at 13:15.

Fix bayonets!: May 2014

http://napoleonicmadness.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Friday, 2 May 2014. Its been a loooong time. Its been almost 2 years since the last time I updated this blog. The truth is that ever since I moved back to Greece life changed completely. Mind you, I never stopped painting but the main focus of the local gaming clubs was -and still is- fantasy wargaming. Therefore my precious napoleonics got a prominent position in my glass cabinet and I took my fantasy armies to the field. Rest assured that I will be updating this space soon! In the meantime here is some...

"Skoryi Szag!": Freikorps Pfaffenhofen

http://skyoriszag.blogspot.com/2009/07/freikorps-pfaffenhofen.html

Saturday, 25 July 2009. Will be working in close cooperation with the. This unit has a unique and interesting- if little known- history. Reinhardt Avenberg von Loseth-Pfaffenhofen, Hereditary Duke of Avenberg-Pfaffenhofen. Held lands in Austria bordering on the Tyrol and Bavaria, and his family had faithfully served the cause of the Habsburg monarchy for centuries. Much of his considerable wealth came from the silver mines that were located in this small, but prosperous, enclave. This was uniformed in th...

"Skoryi Szag!": December 2009

http://skyoriszag.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 23 December 2009. Kleine Krieg- The Encounter at Kartoffelkopf. It comes to wargaming, I realize that I have always tended to enjoy the more modest, smaller engagements rather than the larger set-piece battles with no flanks and hub-to-hub artillery. And of course, you do not need so much table space! Now most of my time painting recently has been on my French Napoleonic forces. But progress on the French has been going well enough (by my standards! As well as the Streifkorps Mussinpushkin.

"Skoryi Szag!": A redoubtable undertaking

http://skyoriszag.blogspot.com/2010/10/redoutable-undertaking.html

Saturday, 9 October 2010. Russian redoubt for my artillery, inspired by-of all things- tofu tubs! I had been wanting to make some terrain for our Napoleonic games for a while, but hadn't given it all that much thought until yesterday morning when the "Tsarina" was about to toss these into the recycling bin. Small tofu containers that are common in supermarkets here. I added foam-board chunks for the embrasures and to build up the final shape,. The gabions and any planking, and then. As is the way of such...

"Skoryi Szag!": December 2010

http://skyoriszag.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, 12 December 2010. To repel the minions of Bonaparte and hurl them from Sacred Russian soil! Yes, it looks odd to see horse artillery manning fieldworks, but needs must as I haven't started on foot artillery yet. I'm quite pleased with how it has turned out. A far cry from the plastic tofu tubs I rescued from being tossed out into the garbage. Thin layers of papier-mache. Clamping the whole thing down to the workbench while it dried thoroughly, and. You can see how the project developed here.

Thursday, 6 January 2011. Which, if Babelfish is to be trusted and your computer is set up to read Cyrillic,. Russian for "Happy Sviatki". This being the time for the Russian Orthodox Church's two-week celebration of Christmas. As way of marking the day, here is my scene of Russian priests (monks? Blessing the troops on this auspicious day in 1813, prior to them going on and kicking Boney's butt all the way to Paris- if with a few setbacks along the way. The miniatures are from Front Rank. Thursday, 30 July 2009. Russia's Greatest Love Machine? Our Lady of Novodski-Nargil". Every self-respecting Czarist corps needs its Icon and Orthodox Priests to inspire the men. I've been working on these on and off for a long time now, and have finally finished them. They are the most complex conversions I've done so far, involving a fair amount of epoxy putty and paper clips! Or is he a monk? I know little about the organization of the Russian Orthodox Church) began life as a Front Rank. They were a lo...

"Skoryi Szag!": Painted Russians!

http://skyoriszag.blogspot.com/2010/10/painted-russians.html

Sunday, 3 October 2010. Finally had some hobby time today, so here it is- a finished stand of Russians! A 10 pdr. Licorne. Of Horse Battery #8. Ready to do some GBH to the French. Front Rank miniatures, and a joy they were indeed to paint. These are some of their best figures in my opinion. Notice that the Czar's representative, Count. Observes the proceedings along with the British liaison officer,. Major Bartholomew Fetlock-Withers (MP),. Ready to dispense death and destruction on Bonaparte's hordes.

http://skyoriszag.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 4 August 2009. Here in the suburbs of Tokyo, I'm lucky enough to live in a nice house that is quite spacious by Tokyo standards, and which is surrounded by a lot of green hills and is close to the Tama River. I also really enjoy my work here, which takes me to various locations in and around the Tokyo area and beyond. But the downside of life in this metropolis of 12 million people is that commuting can really. Above is a shot of the workbench. In the foreground is a 10 pdr. licorne. Carefully- ...

Saturday, 25 September 2010. Front Rank would do Napoleonic Russian cavalry wearing greatcoats. I was looking at the picture of the Crimean War Russian cavalry in the Black Powder. Rule book, and found myself thinking that they would be a lot faster to paint, and indeed look rather natty. But I do like the dark green jackets. Here's the licorne almost finished. This picture gives a much better impression of the shade of green I'm using for the uniform. Just the ironwork on the gun left to do now (ugh!

"Skoryi Szag!": Time to curl up in an armchair with a glass of vodka!

http://skyoriszag.blogspot.com/2010/02/i-havent-had-much-to-read-in-way-of.html

Saturday, 20 February 2010. Time to curl up in an armchair with a glass of vodka! Haven't had much to read in the way of the Russian army in the Napoleonic Wars since I got my copy of Alexander Mikaberidze's The Battle of Borodino. A year or so ago, so I have been long overdue for some literary inspiration. Well, my friend Kris in Frankfurt has remedied that by sending me a copy of Dominic Lieven's Russia Against Napoleon: The Battle for Europe 1807-1814. 20 February 2010 at 17:31. Born in Brighton, Engl...

Tuesday, 1 September 2009. Back from La Boissiere - Was it worth it? Back home and, after a day of work, looking back on the living history/campaign weekend at Ecole-Boissiere.
