View from nappy mountain. All you need is cake. It's holiday time, yay! I have a month off, which is fabulous. There's so much we want to fit in, it will be a miracle if we manage everything. On Saturday we spent the whole day there, eating takeaway pizza for lunch, and launching The Enormous Walrus, M's new boat. Yesterday, we skated at the ice hall, ate buns at the ABC caf, then headed off into the wilds of Noljakka for some skiing and potkukelkka-ing. View from nappy mountain. All you need is cake. Pretty good tiger, no? Links to this post. I get the feeling we may be turning Finnglish. We own 4 Moomin mugs, several rugs, and a Marimekko/Iittala glass bowl. We love skiing, skating, piima and rye bread. Karelian pies and munavoi produce shrieks of delight. We've grilled sausages in a grilli hut in the middle of the forest in the snow. It's normal to sit naked in the sauna with a bunch of strangers (at the swimming pool), or with friends. I like this lot.

View from nappy mountain. All you need is cake. We put our bikes on the car on Saturday, and zoomed through Joensuu to Noljakka. Here's Orb and M racing along the ski trail. Towards the lake, and our favourite view. A Beinn 20) is fantastic - the gears mean we can finally all ride at a reasonable speed, and go up and down (small) hills without lots of whinging. Result! But two hours of trekking about makes a small family very hungry, so we decamped to the service station for buns and coffee. I love t...

Because when you're older, you might want to learn to cook. Here's Millie's 5th birthday cake. As ever, it was Nigella's buttermilk birthday cake recipe - the perfect construction cake. I used a massive round cake tin (I think it's 30cm across), and a smaller, 7inch sandwich tin. 150g yoghurt mixed with 250ml milk (or 400ml buttermilk). 3 teaspoons vanilla extract. 3 teaspoons baking powder. 1 teaspoon bicarb of soda. Next, assemble your cat. You'll need:. A little icing sugar, for rolling out the icing.

There is no limit to the number of times the project team I currently work with are prepared to eat dinner at the local chippy. The brick gatehouse at Herstmonceaux castle cost about £4,500 to build.
