They start producing pistachios in fourth or fifth year after planting. Their bearing and producing pistachios increase to the maximum amount after about 20 years. In Iran as many other regions, harvest takes place from September to late October (in the late summer) when the nuts are ripe and the shell around the pistachio is loose.
