A revolution without dancing. Is hardly a revolution worth having. Using the wonders of Google, Skyline Inc. has just released it’s plagiarism-detector 8.0. It can check Word documents, PDFs, and power point presentations, among others. Against any published source on the internet, using Google’s search algorithms. Sounds like a much better source than Turnitin.com – and it also looks like it would be one heck of a lot cheaper! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

A revolution without dancing. Is hardly a revolution worth having. More Challenging than I thought. I find it strange how much thought and effort I put into the title and the about me section of this blog. Upon reflection, neither look as though they were given much effort I suppose. It's odd that I would sit and contemplate both for such a long time, but then, I suppose those first impressions do mean a lot. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). More Challenging than I thought. A revolution without dancing. Is hardly a revolution worth having. Given that my internship for my public history program is already over half way complete, I thought it would be appropriate to. Share what it is that I've been doing. I'm working for the Ontario Genealogical Society (a real mouth full when you try and answer the phone! It is possible to move this machine, though it’s a tad on the cumbersome side – certainly not something to be taken lightly! Got anything you want digitized?

A revolution without dancing. Is hardly a revolution worth having. I came across this photographic essay. A little while ago, and it nicely demonstrates why it is that I hope to never in my life own a diamond. This includes a (hopefully) future engagement ring. I had never really thought about the diamond industry before I took African history courses with John Laband. A small excerpt from the book. 8216;Is that what I think it is? 8217; I asked. Which examines the arms trade in numerous areas and focuse...

A revolution without dancing. Is hardly a revolution worth having. A future without books? I just came across this article, The Future of Reading. And I must say, I'm both incredibly intrigued and a little frightened at the same time. Now, let's start with the fright:. Might not be that far off. Truly scary! It would be amazing to carry multiple copies of books at once! And research would be a breeze! Where was this thing five years ago when I started my undergrad? A combination of fright and intrigue:.

A revolution without dancing. Is hardly a revolution worth having. Twitter came up in class the other day and I just ran across this talk. By the co-founder about how the concept of instant updates came to be, and how it has evolved in such a short time. And while you're on TED, check out some of the other talks! A revolution without dancing. Is hardly a revolution worth having. The Wonders of Digital Technology. I stumbled across an interesting Newsweek photo essay earlier today, which linked me to a Library of Congress exhibit. It's a collection of color photographs from Russia, taken between 1907 and 1915. Yes, I said. The Library of Congress has chosen to highlight certain images, but there are certain many more to enjoy - some of which you can see in the Newsweek article. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

A revolution without dancing. Is hardly a revolution worth having. Just what are they up to? I remembered after reading Terry Cook’s article. 8211; “Archival Appraisal and Collection: Issues, Challenges, New Approaches” in which he discusses illegal records destruction – that I had read articles last week about Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney attempting to keep (what arguably should be) public records private. First, Sarah Palin: The hacker group ‘ Anonymous. Created in the aftermath of Watergate, to ensure ...

Historical Craic: Bunratty Lessons
http://skmaloney.blogspot.com/2008/12/bunratty-lessons.html
Wednesday, December 3, 2008. You can quote me on that. It’s absolutely ridiculous! On a weekend off, my boyfriend and I would rent a car and head out on their alley-like highways to see what we could find. We would drive until we saw little signs that said something like ‘Dunguare castle’. Then we’d swerve off searching for these old ruins, sometimes finding ourselves in the middle of a field riddled with cows just to see remnants of a church or castle. (no joke! At least until now! Moving On: New Site.

Historical Craic: February 2009
http://skmaloney.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 23, 2009. One more thing about Sachsenhausen. There is one thing I forgot to mention about this camp that I thought might offer some historical craic to others. In the back of the camp there is a large memorial that, I want to say, the Germans put up in remembrance of those who suffered at the camp. It's a fairly large memorial that can be seen from all over the site. Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Get my ANTM pose in front of this pole thing! Eat your heart out Tyra! I mean, how can you be ...
