Natalie Lundeen's Studio Blog: Anatomy for artists -- écorché with Rey Bustos
http://nlundeen.blogspot.com/2014/01/anatomy-for-artists-ecorche-with-rey.html
Natalie Lundeen's Studio Blog. Saturday, January 11, 2014. Anatomy for artists - écorché with Rey Bustos. An écorché is a painting or sculpture of a human figure with the skin removed to show the musculature. I had the privilege of taking an écorché class with Rey Bustos last Summer at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA). Teacher- so passionate about what he does, and generous with his time. I hope I'll have the opportunity to do another workshop with him sometime soon. See more of my art at.

For awhile when I was driving around and would see an amazing sunset, I would get angry that I couldn't pull over on the freeway that second and paint it. It really kills the natural enjoyment of a sunset, let me tell you! I don't have the greatest view from my living room window, but enough was enough! Here's the second painting I did. I mostly worked from memory, but the photos were helpful as a reminder. I've since...

Natalie Lundeen's Studio Blog: September 2012
http://nlundeen.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Natalie Lundeen's Studio Blog. Saturday, September 15, 2012. I learned a lot on my recent trip to Provence, even before I left the last airport on my three-plane, one-train journey. The first thing I learned, and the most important lesson I think, is that there is at least one European man out there who sprays his crotch with perfume in duty-free shops. The next very important lesson is that some French people really do say, "Ooh la la! A couple of artists painting in the courtyard. One of the first thin...

Natalie Lundeen's Studio Blog. Friday, August 22, 2014. Plein air painting in Silverlake: Behind the scenes. Last week I found myself painting at the Silverlake reservoir in Los Angeles. I thought it would be fun to take some pictures as I went along and give a little insight into how I went about my painting. I liked this palm tree at the top and the fact that this spot had a light pattern coming down from that tree, curving down the hill. You can see it a little better in this picture. If you compare i...

I started this little painting at the end of a relaxing day at El Matador beach in Malibu. The sun had just started to set, cuing my favorite time of the day to paint. More cormorants, hanging out. Natalie Lundeen's Studio Blog: May 2012
http://nlundeen.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Natalie Lundeen's Studio Blog. Monday, May 21, 2012. Thought I should say hi and share some news, so you know I haven't dropped of the face of the earth! I've actually been busier than ever, just not so great at the blog updates. Last weekend I did my first "art walk", in Montrose, CA- one of my favorite places. I've been showing in galleries and other venues for the last year, so I wanted to give the outdoor thing a try as well. I experimented a little and I think it has a cool "fresco" kind of look.
