Natalia’s journey continues to make great progress from the depths of where she was just before her transplant last w/end – she continues to fight, to heal, to improve and get closer and closer to being able to return home; indeed, if all goes well, there is optimism that she will be home in time for Christmas(! Natalia had to have a tracheotomy. Her awareness of everything is there though. Swelling is down almost entirely now.

I waited 6 weeks in total for my new lungs, mostly all in hospital gasping and drowning for breath. On July 5th, 2010, after the long weekend, I woke up to a nurse coming in to my room to wake me up, my new lungs were here. Someone had been brave enough to sign their donor card and tell their family their wishes.they gave me life again. My donor saved my life and I have no idea who they even are. By six months I was walking pretty normally again, and by 7 months I was even beginning to run a little.

Ten days in barbados, where you used to have to plan only going swimming once a day, maybe once every other day, for fear of walking along the beach and losing your breath. Dreading going for a walk. A journey with my new lungs! Thursday, March 4, 2010. Time flys when you have new lungs. I can't believe how much time flys. Days are filled with appointments, working out, pokes and proding. However, all is good and results have been positive. I am in clinic every 2 weeks now but I still work out 3 times a week in Toronto.
