Nathanael King: August 2014

http://www.nathanaelk.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 29, 2014. The Mural and The Maker by Natalie Falls. I'm privileged to call Aaron and Natalie Falls. My friends. I've watched their faithfulness as God drastically changed their vision for their future by entrusting to them the gift of a son with Down's syndrome. Natalie has a gift at painting emotional pictures with words, and her journey as a mother and a follower of Jesus is something we can all learn from. Natalie writes,. Just released her new book, The Mural and The Maker. First, I've...

Nathanael King: December 2014

http://www.nathanaelk.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 3, 2014. Jesus Loves Santa, and So Should You! I was 7 years old. It was Christmas Eve, and we were driving home from our annual Christmas Eve dinner with my grandparents. As I sat in the car on the drive home, looking out the window, I saw him. I saw Santa Claus! There's also a danger that Santa can feed into our culture's commercialization of Christmas so that my children become overly obsessed with gifts and getting. Instead, we want them to feel a sense of joy in giving; to kn...

Nathanael King: October 2014

http://www.nathanaelk.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 23, 2014. Amusing Ourselves to Death. In the mid-twentieth century, two authors wrote dystopian visions of how civilization might come to be ruled by tyranny, but their visions were quite different. George Orwell wrote 1984. A vision in which people are ruled by omnipresent governmental surveillance, manipulation, and ever-increasing regulation. In short, the vision of 1984. Is a tyranny of control. In contrast to this, 17 years earlier Aldous Huxley had written Brave New World. While b...

Nathanael King: May 2013

http://www.nathanaelk.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Dallas Willard, My Mentor. Dallas Willard died today. That's what the news says anyway. Dallas was a philosophy professor at USC for nearly 50 years, where he specialized in philosophy of mind and logic. He was a profound author on spiritual formation, or the kingdom of God, or as he often called it, "the with-God life." He would often say that there are four great questions humans must answer: What is reality? What is the good life? Who is a good person? Mark D. Roberts. Although...

Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Douglas Wilson on Youth Ministry. Offers a great perspective on youth ministry in this short video interview. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Where I get to work with high school students and teach on the Sunday teaching team.  I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, reading about theology and philosophy, playing guitar, playing games (board games, chess, cards, video games, etc.), watching movies/TV, and talking and laughing with friends.  I also enjoy ...My philosophy of ministry.

http://melissasprojects.blogspot.com/2011/11/letter-gg.html

G is for Glasses! We did a lot of schoolwork outside as my 2 year old was also potty training. I found some things we printed, colored, laminated and hung on our homeschool wall. With the number by tens (10-100) and alphabet letters in the shape of an animal to go with our zoo phonics. Animals song (I didn't buy the program so I had to make up my own). Here's Gg for "Gordo Gorilla (guh guh)":. Most of the letters I found here. Lots of letter tracing. Coloring the g objects. Circle the g's in the story.

Melissa's Projects: July 2012

http://melissasprojects.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

One thing I remember about elementary school was the fun stations you got to switch to when the teacher rang a bell. You would get to the next one and see a whole new thing to explore. Not only will my kids not miss out on fun things like that because we homeschool, but we also get the pleasure of doing such fun things with friends who homeschool too! I love this group! Station #1: Transfer water from a dish using different types of syringes and spoons into an ice cube tray. Station #2: Lacing practice.

Some signs I made to start our new school year:. I saw this on pinterest. And was inspired and had to make it. It's a reminder to myself that I want to teach my kids character, not just textbooks. I know I will be saying this to my oldest throughout this school year! Just spray painted a piece of wood someone was getting rid of and wrote words with the kids' finger paints.). Melissa's Projects: November 2012

http://melissasprojects.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

We read from lots of great resources about our awesome God and the world He created mostly from Children's Bibles, but also from a couple other resources (I highly recommend this. Book and the rest of the four part series; the guy really knows his science but is centered around God. It's meant for older elementary kids, but I loved it just the same! A few days the kids held stuffed animals or did puzzles (to go along with the day of creation) while they listened to the reading. We made a picture book.

Friday, June 26, 2015. Love Wins, But Not At the Expense of Truth. Today the Supreme Court redefined marriage. That's what the news says anyway. For those who believe in a sovereign Lord of the Universe who is the Creator and Definer of all life and existence, we know that humans can never redefine what God has defined. Humans can only move dangerously away from the truth. Central purpose of marriage (not the. Central purpose of marriage), I believe this was a wrong move, both strategically and rationally.
