I am an edge case. After much anger, frustration, rage and ranting I had the opportunity to engage with Sam Brown, Foursquare's lead UI designer and front-end developer. He was receptive and open to critical feedback, which I think is great. They've looked at the data, made difficult decisions and upset a lot of users but ultimately have done what is better for the majority. I have come to understand their approach and motives leading to the release of Swarm, even though I don't fully agree with them.

I often have conversations with business owners or managers about internal systems and collaboration tools. MyEcommerce is turning seven soon and we've tried numerous collaboration tools, but seem to have settled on a few to keep things simple and focused. No time for nonsense. In the past I made time, I literally made it. Whether it was to go to events, meetings, meetups, quick coffees or general get togethers, I made a plan. The last year or so has shown me that meetings, events and meetups are all pretty much a waste of time and don't actually do much of anything to get you anywhere in life. This feeling of getting stuff done and making progress has influenced other parts of my life and ways I engage with people. I've come to appreciate the term.

Email is the way clients contact you, it is asynchronous and it is super efficient if you use it properly. A big problem is very few people know how to use email properly. Remote work

In April this year we decided to close our office in town and implement a distributed work model. We set up a small office at home for some of the team and the rest of the team would work remotely. It was quite a change as our previous office was fully serviced. We had loads of space, shared conferencing, boardroom and kitchen facilities along with multiple redundant high speed internet connections.
