A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi: Camping with Nathan
http://mementonombre.blogspot.com/2015/08/camping-with-nathan.html
A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Some weekend, a couple or few weeks ago, Nathan and I took a hike up to the Shindagen lean-to. The following pictures are not really in order, but that doesn't really matter. We had a great time until it started thundering and POURING down rain in the evening and into the night. Even then, it wasn't so bad, but we did get wet and did NOT get the best nights sleep. Indian pipe, a parasitic plant. Monotropa uniflora. I thought Grandma Cressman...

A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi: September 2014
http://mementonombre.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi. Monday, September 1, 2014. Mom and dad come to visit. Mom and Dad came to visit last week, and we couldn't have planned a better way to wrap up our summer. Indy has found the bean tipis to her liking. They offer shade, a spot to supervise, and of course, beans. I lost many beans, most of my peas, and all of my grapes to this predator. Mom and Dad and I hit some antique malls mid week and saw lots of cool old stuff. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Old Dogs, New Tricks!

A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi: July 2014
http://mementonombre.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi. Saturday, July 19, 2014. Getting ready for winter. On my first real day of summer vacation Jonas and I went out to Pat's to make firewood. Jonas did some great supervising, as usual. Man, it feels good to see the fruits of your labour. Sick tree standing. Sick tree felled. Felled tree bucked. Bucked wood split. Split wood stacked. Done. Now, who deserves a vanilla milkshake? Friday, July 18, 2014. So sehen sieger aus, Shalalalala, So sehen sieger aus, Shalalalalalalala.

A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi: April 2015
http://mementonombre.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi. Monday, April 20, 2015. Home on the range. We're now solidly into the spring (thankfully) and have been outside a lot. We get out in the winter, too, and we try not to complain about it, but the warm sun really gets us going. What follows are a few photos of our recent weeks since we got back from Philadelphia. Don't worry, I always have attentive supervision. I had to rehang my favorite limbing axe, too. I love this little axe, and learned, again, about using the ...

A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi: March 2015
http://mementonombre.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi. Saturday, March 21, 2015. Well It's snowing again, or still, or whatever. Anyway, the permafrost is still in effect. We're surviving though, and having a good time. I don't even remember where we were going here, probably Brookton's Market. Indy loves to ride in the car and be the special child. This was one of those days where it was wintery in look, but warm in feel. Windows down, blowin' the stink off. We really live in a beautiful place. On another recent day, we m...

A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi: June 2015
http://mementonombre.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Wednesday was a half day. We spent the first part of the day dealing with chaos at school and the second half dealing with the truck. The good old Hayne's book. Oops New alternator had to be snaked down through all kinds of crap. We had to remove a bunch of hoses, which went find, but when we reattached them, this one got tightened too much. The plastic on the top of the radiator cracked right off like it was designed that way. The swamp looks li...

A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi: November 2014
http://mementonombre.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi. Sunday, November 30, 2014. The miscellany of life. Hand punching and sewing is a little time consuming, but it's an enjoyable process. I usually sit on the couch and watch some bush crafting show or outdoorsy documentary like Happy People: A Year in the Taiga. Been doing some logging. How's this for luck-skill? All's well that ends well, they say. Sarah and Vinnie and I met Jenn and Bob and Zhora at 1911 for a Cider festival near Syracuse in a town called Lafayette....

A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi: Summer Ohio Trip, 2015
http://mementonombre.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-ohio-trip-2015.html
A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi. Friday, July 31, 2015. Summer Ohio Trip, 2015. This is the closest thing I have to a "before picture" of the rocking horse. Of course without a true workshop, every room becomes a workshop. You'll probably want to keep your shoes on in our house, as the chances of stepping on a nail or a needle or a chisel is pretty good. Of course the garden never rests, so here is a picture of one of the tipi beds; weeded to the right and awaiting weeding to the left. And thought, "I...
