14th National Sand Festival. Sunday 3rd July 2016. This years event will take place on 3rd July on Bettystown Beach from early morning. Come along and take part by making your own castle or sculpture or simply watch the artists and builders at work! If you are looking for inspiration, previous years winners can be viewed by clicking on the links to your left. Photos of some previous winners can be viewed by checking out all the fun on you-tube, click here. Prizes are as follows:. 1st Prize: 300 euro.

Sandcastles have been built on the beach in Bettystown for many, many years and the National Sandcastle and Sandcastle Sculpturing competitions have taken place around the date of the summer solstice every year since 2003. Over the years hundreds of babies, toddlers, children and those young at heart have joined in the fun and built many fantastic, weird and wonderful features on the beach.

Sand Sculpturing Competition 2007. The first entrants began working at about 10am and worked through the day and a number of not-too-heavy rain showers to creat some stunning masterpieces. The Winners were as follows:. 1st Prize of 500 euro - David Gordon - Giant Head. 2nd Prize of 200 euro - Beverly Ranger - Skeleton. 3rd prize of 100 euro - Sharon Bordello - Mermaid.
