Proud but in a position that is low on the social ladder, their empires, languages, cultures, and ideas have degraded. Where once there were proud nations, there are now only remnants of groups that attempt to remain together and gather their dignity in an ever-changing world. As we discussed in class, I believe the empowerment of native peoples in the 20th century was a type of "botched emancipation.".
