The following is a list of species recorded on our Blessington site, on a visit on 28th May 2014, with some previous records for birds added where indicated - this is a work in progress, and is being added to on a regular basis. Tree and shrub species:. Beech (Fagus sylvatica) - many beech on the site occur in an avenue of centuries-old trees at the southern end of the site, from an estate planting possibly predating nearby Russborough house.

The Trust currently has six sites; Farnaght on the Longford/Leitrim border, Blessington on the reservoir shore beside Russborough House in Wicklow, and Laragh, above Laragh and overlooking Annamoe, also in Wicklow. We have also recently added Ardan Wood, in Westmeath, Grace Dieu in Waterford, and Girley Bog near Kells in Meath. Farnaght was bought in 2003 and planting began there shortly afterwards, and Blessington and Laragh were both bought in 2010.
