Wednesday, June 20, 2012. A little over a year ago, I posted about my son-in-law's main hobby and passion, the annual snowmobile race at the Soo. They do other races too of course, but this is the big deal for the year. I mentioned very briefly in that post that a film crew. The funds are being raised on Kickstarter. A site for raising money for all kinds of creative projects. The twist here is that the goal must be met, or the project gets none of the money pledged. Links to this post. View my complete ...

Friday, December 16, 2011. After our sail on Penobscot bay, we did a bit of souvenir shopping for the offspring, had lunch, and now had the afternoon to explore. I have been fascinated by lighthouses and their history for a long time now, and there are many on the coast of Maine, so of course we must see at least one before leaving. In Rockland, where we visited the lighthouse museum, there is also the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. The lighthouse is mostly unfinished inside, although a lot of restorati...

Sunday, March 10, 2013. In complete defiance, some might say denial, of the wet, gloomy weather today and the forecast of rain/snow for the next few days, I'm posting these photos taken on a gloriously sunny day last Tuesday. And hoping that the people at the National Weather Service are right about the sun coming back later in the week. Enjoy. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Friday, February 3, 2012. Honeymoon capital of the world. Right across the street from our hotel was this building, which I didn't know at the time is a famous Art Deco. Building, formerly the United Office Building. What can you say about Niagara Falls? Words fail, they really are too magnificent. Looks like a convention going on here. Amazing how the birds will stand out in the middle of all that rushing water, or even bob around in it. Links to this post. Labels: Bridal Veil Falls. Maid of the Mist.

Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Snow shadows, tiny tracks, and Queen Anne's Lace. It started out as just a Sunday afternoon walk on a sunny, late winter day. But the light was so perfect and the shadows on the snow so fascinating, that it quickly became more of a photo session. Oh, I still got my walk in, it just takes longer when the camera is along. Walking trail through the sumac. Can you guess what made this shadow? In the spring, there will be trilliums on this hill. Did he almost get lost? Some even lean ...
