SO's What: April 2015

http://www.natsnoselo.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Thoughts, Musings and Observations. Monday, April 20. There was lots of laughter and fun. At least from my perspective, a success in every way. But, like many of the trips we have been on, the initial part of our trip had a clear direction and endpoint - in this case the party itself and getting Madeline to the airport for her flight back to Madison. But in almost every case the fog quickly cleared to allow us to see our way more or less clearly - even if the fog and clouds were still in the area. To sca...

Thoughts, Musings and Observations. Saturday, December 20. Happy Holidays - 2014. Kung His Hsin Nien bing Chu Shen Tan! Natale Hilare et Annum Faustum! Pozdrevlyayu s Prazdnikom Rozhdestva is Novim Godom! God Jul and (Och) Ett Gott Nytt! Kate has had the most dramatic changes this year. She retired in June after 39 (and a half) years at the Minnesota Attorney General's office. We promptly headed to California and wine country with the kids. What a wonderful trip it was. It gave us much pleasure!

SO's What: Back to the Keyboard

http://www.natsnoselo.blogspot.com/2015/02/back-to-keyboard.html

Thoughts, Musings and Observations. Thursday, February 12. Back to the Keyboard. Also quite weird, at least in retrospect, was the blog entry I had posted just before we left (see below). Part of the entry reads "wouldn't it be ironic if I retired and only then, after 16 years, had cancer return? And we have all heard those stories. Person retires and soon has some fatal or near fatal experience." Perhaps just a little too close to home. Nevertheless, I'm going to keep this first post-medical-event entry...

SO's What: November 2014

http://www.natsnoselo.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Thoughts, Musings and Observations. Friday, November 21. Sometimes perfection isn't all it's cracked up to be. Kate and I went to a cooking class hosted by our financial advisors last Wednesday. Forty people or so - most acquainted only with our advisors and the person we each came with. A little wine, some conversation, a French Proven ç. Ale-themed meal prepared and eaten by the attendees (with lots of supervision from the chef and several sous chefs). And the resulting dish was just beautiful. I repli...

Sunday, May 08, 2011. Peas and Fava Beans; Yummy. The recipe I'm using for dinner tonight comes from Jamie Oliver who's dressed like a snap pea in this photo. He's talking to some bureaucrat at an elementary school back East. I'm cooking one of Jamie's recipes tonight that is mostly snap peas and fava beans. You don't cook any of it. Fava beans are those big hunky things that look weird. You see them at farmer's markets this time of year. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Our Life In The Country. 120 Years of ...

Saturday, September 25, 2010. The Sounds of Fall. Changing seasons present lots of visual elements; but there are lots of sounds that signal changes as well. Here's my list so far:. 3 It's almost duck hunting season so many more people are using the outdoor shooting range in Lincoln. I wake up to the pop of guns nearly every morning. Hunters refer to it as harvesting waterfowl. No matter how you view it, the ducks die. Monday, September 20, 2010. A Dog With Many Jobs. With the weather changing all the an...

Our Life In The Country: "C" Puppies Visit

http://ourlifeinthecountry.blogspot.com/2011/02/c-puppies-visit.html

Monday, February 21, 2011. By now they are at the CCI vet being weighed, vaccinated and tattooed with a number (in their ear). Tomorrow they travel to their puppy raisers who are as far away as New Jersey and as close as Northern California. In a couple of weeks they will start training with hopes of someday becoming a service dog for a disabled person (but not blind, that organization raises their own dogs). They are so cute. Oh, they are the sweetest! I bet it is a lot quieter at your house now.

Thursday, November 18, 2010. Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Recyling, Being Handicapped and Strikes. The French, and all of Europe for that matter, bring new meaning to the word "recycle.". We learned that the next Saturday the lock workers on the Seine would not got to work. That meant all boat traffic in and out of Paris would come to a standstill for one day. We got back without problems but the next week's cruise would come back to Paris a day early due to the strikers actions. Kerry had eggs benedict...

The Plasticville Chronicles: February 2010

http://plasticville.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Online Home of the Train Party. Friday, February 05, 2010. Plasticville Chronicle Special Alert (AP). Suspected earthquake hits Urbandale, Iowa…. After Mr. Eddy discovered that he was not covered by earthquake insurance, it was determined that the cause of the disaster was a large ice slide from the upper portions of his roof. It was very astute of Mr. Eddy to re-address the actual cause of this mishap, because now it would appear that insurance will be assisting in the recovery effort.
