Began its life on Navarre Station somewhere around 1880. It was probably built from timber cleared on the station. It had 14 large upright posts to support the walls made from hewn timber. By 1920 the walls were still in good condition but the bark roof had started to deteriorate. A banksia rose planted next to the shed was growing all through the shingles. John Thomson was a young man who travelled around the Eastern Coast of Australia between 1871 and 1874. Over this time he wrote to his brother George, his sister Janet and her fiancé Andrew Brown. This is a look at the places he saw, the people he met and the letters he wrote. His final letter to his sister Janet, was written from his home in Belfast (Port Fairy) before his death from Tuberculosis, at the age of 25.
