Navigating Normal: Swim Day

http://navigatingnormal.blogspot.com/2013/06/swim-day.html

A birth mother's journey through open adoption and redefining family. Monday, June 24, 2013. Most Fridays, Mama takes the day off of work to go swimming with Ladybug at a local community center. This is sort of their special activity together, some time to bond between just the two of them. Mutti says she's too nervous to go swimming with them, so she opts to stay at home. I'm grateful that Mama and Ladybug get to have this one on one time on a weekly basis. Showing off her ladybug swim suit. So true&#46...

A birth mother's journey through open adoption and redefining family. Sunday, June 23, 2013. Perfect Moment Monday: What I Gave Her. June was a month chock full of perfect moments. It seemed that every time I turned around another one would pop up, and I'd proclaim that one was the one I'd write about as part of Lori's Perfect Moment Mondays. This comment also helped remind me that I am. Hosted by Lori at LavenderLuz.com, Perfect Moment Monday. Is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one&...

A birth mother's journey through open adoption and redefining family. Sunday, June 23, 2013. Its not enough merely to listen though. Listening can't happen unless their is first a discussion to hear. If Ladybug is anything like me, she won't have a problem expressing her emotions, provided she is in an environment where she feels safe and welcome to do so. It is our responsibility to create that environment for her. June 28, 2013 at 10:55 PM. I recently discovered this parenting manifesto from Brene Brow...

Navigating Normal: Nightmares

http://navigatingnormal.blogspot.com/2013/06/nightmares.html

A birth mother's journey through open adoption and redefining family. Thursday, June 20, 2013. These dreams have become far less frequent over the past 6 months as my emotional state has grown increasingly stable. Most of my nights are now filled with normal people dreams of flying or having conversations with my cats who have inexplicably gained the ability of speech. But occasionally, my adoption grief gets triggered again and the nightmares will creep back in for a night or two. How could this be?

July 28, 2013 at 11:14 pm Posted in AdoptThis! In just a few days we will be headed off across the country to visit Posy’s birthfamily – the whole kit and kaboodle of them. My introvert self is anxious about all sorts of things – the lack of privacy (we are staying with them – C. said there was “no way you’re staying in a damn hotel! Open Adoption Roundtable: Time. March 16, 2013 at 4:30 pm Posted in AdoptThis! The prompt for this Open Adoption Roundtable was very simple and open-ended:. Write about open adoption and time. My day is made up of moments like these: Posy fighting nap for 45 minutes until I decide I’m just going to take her to the grocery store with me – only to come back upstairs from putting my shoes on and find her fast asleep, clutching her binky. So mundane, and yet so precious. 1 Comment ». All the best,. Address n...

June 18, 2013 at 10:19 pm Posted in AdoptThis! This is sort of a belated response to the Open Adoption Bloggers Roundtable #49. But I wonder a lot about my kids’ fathers.
