Navigating the Upheaval: May 2007

Monday, May 14, 2007. Waiting on God, not myself. It has been five months since I started looking for look in Albuquerque. So many times I have wondered, "Where is God in this time of struggle? If God brought me here, has he forgotten me so quickly? Every week there is either a new difficulty, or an expansion upon an existing struggle. I have learned so much during this desert time. Inevitably, someone would say, "So an English major, do you want to teach? Yet I, Elizabeth, did nothing. Only Christ in me.
Navigating the Upheaval: Shirley Planation
http://navigatingupheaval.blogspot.com/2009/03/shirley-planation.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Last night I could not fall asleep, despite a sleeping pill. In an effort to redirect my thoughts from my inability to sleep, my husband asked me to describe some of the most beautiful places I've visited. My first thought was Shirley Plantation. In 7th grade I went to Washington D.C. with my family and my sister's 4th grade class. Since my parents were chaperons and we wanted to see more of the area, we went a week early. To the north (in my memory) of the house is a tall tree a...

Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Even though my husband and I have been together almost 2 1/2 years, today was the first time I've seen him in a kilt. The above photo was taken when he was in college, about three or four years ago. He decided to wear his kilt and play his bagpipes for the 7am meeting! Are they in for a surprise! Wednesday, July 30, 2008. If at Age Thirteen, We Knew When We Would Get Married. Earlier today I saw some wedding photos of a guy I had a slight crush on in college. Within the last two years, at least three high school crushes have gotten married. I believe my first crush was in kindergarten. His name was Nicholas. It was never a serious crush – we were both shy and reserved in elementary school, I don’t know if we even chased each other around the playground. In middle school or high school, crushes ca...

Friday, April 10, 2009. Praise You In This Storm. Romans 8:28 / 2 Corinthians. 4:16-18. Psalm 42:5 / Psalm 121:1-2. Job 1:20-21 / Daniel 3:16-18. I was sure by now. God, You would have reached down. And wiped our tears away. Stepped in and saved the day. But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining. As the thunder rolls. I barely hear You whisper through the rain. And as Your mercy falls. I raise my hands and praise the God who gives. I'll praise You in this storm. And I will lift my hands. Our i...
