Monday, April 7, 2014. A War trophy from France. Back in February, I paid the Kauri Museum at Matakohe another visit. The museum has a vast collection of historical treasures including a battle scarred former church bell that came from the french towsnhip of La Bassee. For most of the First World War the township and surrounding area remained under German occupation. The operations of mid-October 1914 were the last to be carried out on French soil according to the traditional rules of a war of movement.

Ruawai's Centennial will officially open on Friday, March 21 continuing over the weekend until Sunday. The event will be held at the Ruawai Memorial Hall.
